01 4Runner alarm goes off at random times
My 01 4Runner has been doing this for a while, but it seems to be doing it more frequently now than ever. Today it woke up my daughter from her nap, so I need to figure out how to stop it.
I have been inside stores and heard my alarm going off. I have been out in public and heard it going off. I have been at home with it parked in the driveway and it goes off. It usually lasts for a minute or two and then will cut off. I am NOT hitting the key fob and no one is near my vehicle when it happens.
There are also times that, when coming back to my parked vehicle, I hit the unlock button on the key fob and the horn makes three of four quick beeps. I have come to the conclusion that it only makes this sound after the alarm has been activated while it was parked.
If I ever hear it going off, I can simply hit the unlock button on the key fob to silence it. Why is it going off in the first place? Is there a sensitivity setting I can adjust? Is there a way to disconnect it? Please help!!
