Toyota Tundra: How to Replace Your Dome Light
Whether you like it or not, during the time you own your Toyota Tundra, you will have to replace the cabin’s dome light. The good news is it’s a quick fix and relatively cheap to do — here’s how.
This article applies to the Toyota Tundra (2000-present).
The dome light in your Toyota Tundra is one of those parts that you don’t notice until it starts malfunctioning. The good news is that it’s a fairly easy fix, and one that you can certainly do yourself while at home. The bulbs themselves are also inexpensive, so if you begin to notice yours is flickering or otherwise not turning on when you enter the cabin of your truck, take the quick trip to the store and make the quick fix.
Materials Needed
- New dome light
- Flat head screwdriver
Step 1 – Remove dome light covers and bulbs
Using a flat head screwdriver, pry the dome light covers off. Once they’re removed, use the same tool to pull out the bulbs.
Step 2 – Replace with new dome light bulbs and covers
Place the new light bulb into the dome light’s empty cavity and secure fit. Now snap the cover back into place.
Step 3 – Test the bulbs
Turn the dome lights on and ensure they work. If they do not, remove the cover(s) and bulb(s), and try reinstalling—the dome light bulbs may not be fully inserted.
