I wanted this to be as plug and play as possible but it wasn't as easy to just replace the old horn with these because the factory horn is Negative Switched at the horn buttons and always has 12v positive at the horn. So I relocated the factory horn to this position and kept it wired to the wheel. This will be my "polite" horn

I like the sound of air horns on a Semi or Train but real estate is limited for flutes and a compessor. I also wanted it to run off my existing horn wiring, or so I thought. I found a guy that put together a set of 4 horns from old Cadillacs and Buicks. Each horn plays a different note forming a musical chord distinctive of a train, Cadillac or something larger than a scooter.

Getting that retainer ring of was a bear. I did not have the Special service tool or jig to press it off along with the bearing and the only way I could use my press wouldn't touch it. Being careful not to nick the axle shaft or bearing pocket I used a dremmel to cut through half of the retainer ring then a BFH with a cold chisel finished the job. Tip...A smaller width chisel would be better.

I replaced the seal on the axle but it looked to me that the bearing had a little wobble to it. Since a New Koyo bearing wasn't that much I might as well replace it. Some have said that the wobble can cause the seal to go bad. makes sense but I have seen the front rubber crank seal cut a groove in the steel shaft of the crank pulley. This make me think it possible that the seal in the axle could cut into the bearing retainer ring.

Last Year this cool design appeared on the inside of my rear tire and it turned out to be a leaking brake cylinder inside the drum. This time it's the axle seal gone bad allowing gear oil to spew out onto the tire.

Had to cut the bearing retainer as close as I could without touching the axle shaft or the bearing pocket. This method only got me through half the retainer. Then using a Stanley cold chisel and a BFH to finish breaking through the retainer ring.

So this problem has been creeping up on me and getting worse as you can see from the gear oil making a cool design on the inside of this tire.... First time this design showed up it was brake fluid coming from my Brake cylinder inside the Drum. I replaced that in short order....This time It's The Rear Axle seal and Bearing Need replaced

At one point I tried a newer style rubber boot set up to replace the worn out factory setup But it interfered with shifting. So I found this set up that seem s to be working better

Finally got around to de-grease, sand, prime and epoxy paint the new / used cross member. out of all the de-grease agents out there I have found Easy Off oven cleaner the best for the money....However DO NOT get it on your aluminum parts. It will turn them a dull grey and also don't breath the fumes as they are potent
