1986 2wd pickup exhaust system and brake cables

Hello all,

After changing all fluids (coolant/axle/tranny/engine/brake/clutch), it is clear that my exhaust is now requiring replacement from at least the cat back. Any recommendations on where to get one...cat back or complete maybe (I can only find them for 4wd pickups)??

It is a 2wd, long bed (7 ft), 112.5 wheel base, RN55

Also, for those that were looking at a previous thread of mine about rear parking brake cables, I have yet again hit a brick wall (Yoshi parts does not stock them any more). So, unless anyone has any other sources, does anyone have exact measurements on the left and right rear cable so that I can have them made (found a couple of websites online that do this). Or, I suppose a good set of used ones might be an option too.

Thanks,
Julian

Rock Auto has these...

Take a look at the ones Rock Auto carries. They have a good selection still.

Doesn't Dorman offer cables?
If that's a factory catalytic converter whatever route you go regarding the muffler don't lose that cat.

Not sure if it is factory or not, but there is one!

Does anyone know what the difference is for the cat back system offered for the 4wd pickup compared to the 2wd???? Magnaflow (that makes Brexhaust) stated that its system is for the 4wd pickup only.

https://www.magnaflow.com/products/1...exhaust-system

Regarding the cables, Rock Auto does not have them, and Dorman's site shows these options (maybe the right side is offered....C94118....but not sure and even then, no left side!).

https://www.dormanproducts.com/gsear...king%2520Brake

I truly am surprised that these things are so difficult to find. So many of these trucks were produced, and so many (worldwide) remain in use! I can find the same parts for my 3 wheel Reliant in 10 minutes flat!!

Thanks,
Julian

I don't know how they differ. From the CC back the exhaust system hangs under the frame on both models, so i don't see that as an issue(no cross members to route over).
At the back of the muffler is two inverted hooks to hang the muffler to the frame using those donut cushions. Maybe they're different lengths or positioned differently. But that's just a guess.

The problem with the two rear parking brake cables, if you want to call this a problem, is they rarely went bad. Front cable all the time, but hardly ever on the back ones.
Try parts geek and see what part numbers they offer. I'm not saying to order from them, but see what they have available.

Jimkola,

Thanks for the tip!

I might have found the right side cable (and there is a comment attached to it that someone could not find a left cable and bought 2 rights to make it work?!!)

Here is the link and part #.....click on the review to see what you think.......states long bed pickup.....
https://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/19...ake_cable.html (PART 8127-03911939)

But, I definitely think I found the correct exhaust components.......wheelbase 121.5

https://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/19...tail_pipe.html (PART 8127-05937632)

Tell me what you think........

there is a problem with the forum software, where it turns the text dark, not visible against the black background... i think that it has something to do with using " in a post?

i'd be happy to get rid of the horrible black background, don't know if it's possible
