ECM repair

What is your ECM doing or not doing? Maybe check with some of the eBay vendors that repair ETACs. Sometimes a fried circuit is toast and that’s that.
Also what rig do you have? Someone may have a spare to sell

From: I live in New Tripoli Pa out in the woods
I sent one off to ECM depot in Texas .
Been some Time I think I paid $300.00 exchange it comes with a life time warranty unless it gets wet .
Water or a Major Voltage spike about the only thing that kills them

An early 99 4Runner was the donor vehicle for a 3.4 auto swap into my 94 pickup. It's ran great for 2 yrs but lately it's hit or miss as to whether it's going to start.
When I put my backup ECM in it fires up but that ecm is from a 00 4Runner and the engine runs fine I just get a couple transmission codes. I was looking for recommendations on who had good luck or bad with all the different repair facilities. Thanks wyoming9, I'll look into those guys.

I'm not sure if this is related or completely true, but I read that the 99' ECU with immobilizer must have a programmed chipped key close by to work, I also read that if you lose ALL your keys, specifically on a early 99' the ECU wasn't designed to be reprogrammed and 1 must by a new ECU with a programmed key, supposedly this was corrected in 2000+ so that if you lost ALL your keys the ECU could still be programmed to except a new key. Did you tape the donor key to the replacement 99' immobilizer ECU, strange it would start at all without the programmed key close by..

Malcolm99- yes I've been running with the key and transponder amplifier up under the kick panel with the ecm. . But you're thinking the ecm for the limited with engine immobilizer can't be reprogrammed. So going to an ECM from a SR5 without the immobilizer would be the way I need to go.
