Long bed swap

Hello everyone I have a 1986 Toyota pickup 4x4 with a short bed. I found a local guy with a 2wd long bed that's pretty solid! What all would need to be done to make this fit! Is the long bed longer in front and in the rear of the wheel well?

Aside from the bed being longer in the back, I am about 95% certain that the long bed is a little bit longer in front of the wheels, so you'd likely have to chop out like maybe 3-4" from it in order to keep the same wheel base as your short bed frame allows. Otherwise you'll have to move everything back to fit the bed, which to me is pretty impractical.

yep, you would need to do a front and rear red bob or cut and extend your frame..

I have the longbed dlx cab pickup and I put my own flatbed at 8' from cab to ass. So my wheelbase is off center (rear axle closer to cabin than end of bed) I am currently in the process of getting the parts to extend my wheelbase and put on some Chevy springs.
You might consider doing the same, once you cut the shackles for the springs off your about halfway there, might as well put in a longer driveshaft.

Use car-part.com to find a longer drive shaft at your local junkyards.
