To be clear this is a 3.0 auto, to 3.4 auto using 3.4 tranny, then after swapped to use the 3.0 5 speed transmission. All information is in this thread.
My 89 Pickup is at 430,xxxkms, and its slowly on its way out.
Anyways I decided to go for a 3.4 swap instead of another 3.0. I picked one up last weekend for $600, he gave me tranny and t-case with it as well.
My truck and stuff I picked up are both auto, plan to keep it that way so my fiancée can drive it.

My thread is certainly not vague. Give it a read. There's another good auto trans thread but I can't remember who exactly. Etravoda, I think? You'll need a passenger side drop adapter (Inchworm "tacoma adapter") and a top shift manual transfer case from an 80s truck. Auto is more $, not necessarily more work.

Thanks! Your thread is awesome and I will be following it while I do my swap
Finally got my hands on a gear driven top shift case to mate to my 3.4 transmission. Snowing tonight so can't get a good pic. It only costed me a 6 pack of bud. Ordering the Inchworm adapter on payday and I can start making some real progress! Getting excited.
Also does anyone have the wiring diagrams for a 89 pickup? They are not on http://techinfo.toyota.com/ and my local dealer said they had nothing that old.. Grrr, I've got the ones for the 3.4.

Dip stick relocated, used a generic chrome chevy dip stick, Ill later mark the full lines when I add the correct amount of oil after install. Oil pan, and accessories moved over, switched engine mounts, new plugs, etc done on motor at this point.

i got engaged the weekend I actually picked up my 3.4 and had to put the swap on back burner. Now that I'm married I'm hammering at this it's in and set up. Just updating this now
I'm about 40% into wiring. Got it cranking, I'll update when she's going. I'll also come back and edit my other posts here with more detail from my PC later, just quick updates here while I've been uploading off my phone.

This is actually the first one of these I've looked at using the newer transmission. I knew I could do it but didn't know about how to line up the front drive line. Will my 89 4runner 3VZE transfer case mate up to the newer transmission? The 89 is a manual tranny.
I am not pulling the trigger on my swap until I can buy a complete donor vehicle. I don't get a chance to prowl through the salvage yards like I used to and It will just be so much easier if I have them parked next to each other.

No your 3.0 transfercase won't mount up. You'll have to do what I did and find a gear driven top shift transfer case and mount using a adapter to the 3.4 tranny. Mine was $650 CAD. For autos it's easier to use the 3.4 tranny plus mine was at 435k so I didn't want to use it if I didn't have to.

Ok guys I'm stumped. Everything is wired, computer sending signals everywhere it needs to. All plugs and connections read good (got a wiring guy to go over it) and it's not starting. We figured it's the immobilizer, I don't have original key or module for it, does anyone know how to bypass it?
