More parts arrived today. Got the clutch kit, exhaust gaskets, and power steering pump rebuild kit in. Just have to find the time to install.

Found a great deal on craigslist today. Got some manual hubs and two new brake rotors for $19 dollars. What a deal

Simplified the 4wheel drive system last night by removing all the vacuum lines and installed the hose clamp on the inside of the actuator since I have the manual hubs now. Progress is slow but steady now.

Are you saying that you used a hose clamp to keep the collar from sliding on the axle shaft? Do you have a picture or link by chance?

No I move the actuator to the locked(4x4) position and used a small hose clamp to hold the actuator in place from moving and disconnected the vacuum lines, actually I pulled one totally off the assembly. The second I disconnected from the hard line and ran it to the now open fitting on the actuator housing to seal it off. Look at this write up. http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/add/

Good luck on the build and keep us posted on progress. It gets frustrating, but to me I think the key is to keep the project moving, even if its little at a time.

Got the power steering pump rebuilt tonight and replaced the clutch hose replaced as well. Slow but steady

Got the ac compressor pulley swapped out today. I didn't change the clutch though as the connection and clutch appear to be the same from the 3.0 to 3.4. Can anyone say if this is going to cause problems?

Did you rebuild the power steering pump yourself? What's involved in that?

The hardest part is getting it off the motor if its still installed in the vehicle honestly. 3 bolts and the reservoir comes off, take the remaining bolts off and the case separates into two pieces. Replace the seals inside and put it back together. I know that seems like a very generalized breakdown but it really is that easy. The only part that can be a pain is if you end up dumping the vane plates out. I didn't go by this thread, http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-ge...ld-5vz-fe.html , but it does a good of explaining it. I've rebuild the 3.0 pump before which is just a little more of a pain in the butt but still not a hard job at all. The reseal kits are only about 15 to 20 bucks and I've had good luck with them in the past and it is a quick job once its out of the vehicle. I did it while grilling chicken on the grill and finished before the chicken was done.

Got the crossover tacked together tonight. I'm most likely going to drop the engine to make sure I have it at the correct angle. Will be a little extra work if I got it right but will save alot of grinding if I got it wrong.

Finally got a chance to check the exhaust crossover. It was close but no go. I'm generally pretty cheap but I really don't want to deal with an exhaust issue 3 months down the road so I went ahead and ordered the ORS crossover. Its currently on back order but that should allow me enough time to finish all the other little things I have let to get done so by the time the pipe gets here I'll be done.

Yeah I was very happy to finally get it dropped into its final resting place. It's only taken me about 2 years due to my slack work ethic on it.

Got around to rebuilding the hubs I got on the cheap. They were in very good shape. Some time in the parts washer and a few new seals from good as new.
