Web Broadcast

We are entering into the Web casting world. We are going to demo the Accordent.com equipment but we need to get the camera and mics. equipment on our own.
Anyone in this field have recommendations.
I have budgeted up to $2k for the camera but I would like S video connections out of it. I was really looking at the HD Sony camera. I have no idea about cables, mics, headphones, tripod etc..

Thanks for any recommendations.
I think this will be a lot of fun once it's all figured out.

no need with the HD cam.

unless you are really gonna be in the vid production biz.

will this be a live event?

multi-cam shoot? or a single one?

will it be shown on a 640x480 screen?

mics?

go wireless. but that could bring up the budget.

Thanks for your response.

It will be mostly live press releases. Our target audience is the newspaper reporters and our media. So most of them have higher resolution which we have tracked from our web page using WebTrends.
So 1024 and higher for display resolutions.
This will be the only camera but we will ususally have two speakers.

Are wireless mics worth the extra cost, if so I can do some fund raising.
I just found out the lighting hasn't been accounted for so I am going back to ask for more money.

At this rate we are going to need a couple of good cases to haul all of this equip. to the site. I have read good things about Pelican cases. Any opinions?

pelicans kicks ass. but then you know they are $$$$.

wireless mics allows to walk around without having to worry about tripping or looking down to see where the cords are.

and yes, lighting is VERY important.

think if it a regular video production. look for books or websites that give more details in setting up equipment and how/what/where.

dont forget to record the stuff in case of archiving or people want to look up past stuff on your site.

and dont forget to use the best codec to stream this stuff. try not to use something that people will need to download though or make sure they have it BEFORE hand or it's kinda useless when they take half the time trying to download the codec, install it and then finding out it doesnt work.

actually, you may wanna put up some test foottage for them to view.

also, for sound you may wanna invest a MIXER. for 2 mics, if your cam has 2 inputs, that's kinda pushing it.

if you wanna add music (and dont use COPYRIGHTED stuff, buy canned music or royalty free music), that's gonna be another input and a mixer is mandatory.

i just realized... if this is a one time thing, best to just hire a crew.

otherwise, if this is an on-going thing, then go ahead and buy the stuff...

Thanks for all the good advise.
This is going to be a regular thing of once or twice a month. The company that I am buying the streaming equipment from suggested I look at the Canon Optra 600 for our camera. They are going to offer someone for the day to bring me up to speed about the small show stoppers and do's/don'ts.
It looks like my fund raising is paying off and a mixer, some wireless mics are in my futurer.
Lighting I still have to research but I am really getting into this.

Thanks for your help.
