CBs do not work against radar.... i have a cb and frequently have it on... have been by several cops on the interstate and not once heard any transmissions otehr than mexican guys speaking spanish on about 10 different channels at once.....

Those mexican guys speaking spanish on 10 channels at once is skip rolling when the atmosphere is bouncing cb waves all over the country. When skip is rolling you'll never beable to use your cb worth a damn and this does happen frequently but usually goes away after an hour or so. Anyhow, you have to know how to "ride" your cb. Trucker's aint gonna volunteer you the bear reports if your in a runner but if you ask every couple miles you'll know exactly where they are, when they flipflop, and who've they pulled over. I drive a ridiculous amount of miles and on interstates, a cb is a much more reliable means of knowing where the "smokies" are.

i have a v1 in my subaru (can't quite speed with the 22re in the 4runner). there's really nothing better than having the triangulation point out where the radar is coming from, and telling you how many distict signals there are. it's payed for itself many times over. before i got my v1, i borrowed friends' detectors for long trips and they were practically useless, they just beep but don't really tell you anything. i'll never own another detecter other than the v1.

You guys are missing Yusef's point - he doesn't want to spend a lot of money and all you are talking about is Valentines and Passports.
In the $150 range, I suggest the Beltronics Pro85 - available used on eBay all the time. Below that price range, you are basically putting your license in jeopardy, if you drive fast most of the time.
