Speakers problem - No sound on Pioneer unit
Hi all,
I upgraded my truck's system with the following:
Pioneer Premier DEH-P980BT
Front Speakers: Infinity Kappa 652.7i - 2 way ("6-3/4")
Rear Speakers: Infinity Kappa 62.7i - 2 way ("6-1/2")
Sub-box & Woofer: JL Audio Stealth Box with 10W1v2-4 JL Audio
Amp: JL Audio 250/1 -250 Watts
and I re-wired all speakers with brand new 14 gauge speaker wire.
After everything was put together the stereo was performing ok. After a couple of days of driving the stereo's sound went out, only the subwoofer stayed ON. I checked each speaker and the sound came back ON when I only had the front speakers hooked ON. The sound goes out with all (4) speakers hooked up, but the sound returns when I only plugged the front ones.
Is it possible that the rear speakers are faulty and the headunit shuts all (4) of them down as a security measure.
If anyone has any input please let me know. I can't figure out what it is since everything is brand new.
TIA,
maguirre

The rears may have a short and it is cutting out the internal amp. Can you hook the rear speakers up to the fronts to determine if they play when just the rear speakers are hooked up to the front output of the HU? Then you would rule out the speakers causing the problem and the issue would lie with the HU. Also put the fronts speakers on the rear speaker outputs by themselves and if they don't play, it may lead you to the problem being in the rear amp in the HU. Maybe it's a simple thing as the front to rear fader being set to the front by someone and you didn't know it?

Pull your rear speakers out and make sure the wires/connections are not grounding on the door anywhere. When I installed my Rainbows last week I was not getting any sound at all, so I disconnected the rear speakers and it worked, so I pulled the speaker out and noticed that the +/- on the speaker itself came very close to touching the door. All I did was bend the +/- a little closer to the speaker to get some more room in there and problem solved.
