Speaker Sizes

Can someone tell me what the stock speaker sizes are in an 02 4Runner? I would like to avoid taking off the door panels to find out.

6.5" up front, 4" in back.

der ya go.

go to crutchfield.com and enter your truck in and see what fits.

dont buy from there though, their prices are too high.

i modified my entire sound system in my 01 and the results are just spectacular. check out my website to see my speakers, head unit and subby.

Infinity's site says that the rear doors take 5.25"...is that not true?

Don't forget to look into mounting depth.

I keep for getting what my '02 has. I'm pretty sure it's 6¾ for the fronts since the 6½" don't fit "correctly" and have too much play in there.
Maybe it's different between LTD and other trim lines.

Check out my 2002 with pics of my speaker install.

Crutchfield does have some deals...I put 6 3/4 in the front and 5 1/4 in the back. I strongly believe with the MDF spacers you can put a 6" in the rears and get a little more bass. The Blaupunkt separates for BOTH rear and front doors cost me $127 shipped.

So would 6.5" Infinity components and 5.25" Infinity components fit in the doors respectively without modification?

Yessir....I think they would work great. You would have to make the wood spacer for the rear doors to make sure the magnet would not interfere with the window operation, but that is all you would have to do.

Sweet...so its basically just a piece of MDF with offset holes for mounting it to the door and to the speaker respectively?

LoL. Very funny, ya know, for having over 2000 posts you would think I'd either know more or search more often...hmm.

Actually the fronts are 7" stock. You can use a 6.5" or 6.75" (that's about all that is available) but you will have to make an adapter. The rear stock speakers are 4". I would suggest a 5.25" or 6.5" in the rear. There are several threads on how to do this. Crutchfield is only somewhat reliable on fit. Be creative for the best fit and sound!

Check out woofersetc.com for some great prices.

They're 4" in the door? Man, they looked a lot bigger than that.

The nice thing is that with the wood templates you can change the size to whatever you want on the rear speakers. The fronts are factory 7", but a standard 6 1/2 to 6 3/4 requires a little adjustment but will fit fine.
