Jump on these!!! They work great as an upgrade. I have them. They rock!!!! The tweeter replaces the factory using the same mounting screw!

Blaupunkt's Transparent Series component systems will put some pop into your system's sound and look, at a price that's very attractive. The TSc660 component speaker system combines 1" mylar semi-dome tweeters with transparent polymer 6-3/4" woofers. The see-through woofer cones are ideal for backlighting, and you can top off the look with the transparent grilles.

The external crossovers distribute the sound frequencies to the proper drivers for seamless coverage of the audio spectrum. The system combines solid power handling with high efficiency, so these components will make the most of the power you supply to them, whether you use an aftermarket receiver or an external amp.
Details:
» 6-3/4" component speaker system
» transparent polymer woofer with foam surround
» 1" mylar semi-dome tweeter with multiple mounting options
» external crossover (3,500 Hz at 12 dB per octave)
» transparent polycarbonate basket
» grilles included
» power range: 2-60 watts RMS (180 watts peak power)
» frequency response 65-22,000 Hz
» sensitivity: 91 dB
» top-mount depth: 2-1/8"
» warranty: 1 year

Priced per system

Installation Details for your 2002 4Runner
» Use the factory speaker brackets.
» Use the factory speaker grilles.
» A wiring harness is not available. Cut off the factory connectors and splice the vehicle's speaker wires to your new speaker wires.
» You'll get free lifetime tech support for as long as you own your gear!

A little bit louder, but much clearer! It is worth $35 to just try them. That is too dang cheap for component speakers.

DavidA,
According to the Crutchfield fit guide, it doesn't fit 3rd Gens..(1999 4R)? Did you have to shave/cut/add-on etc. to make them work or no?

thanks,

Kurt

Any speaker in the 3rd gen will require a little tweaking and trimming to fit. I had to angle the screws to attach to the factory mount. I did that on my ex's 1999 and now my 2002.

The rear speakers will require a spacer to be made to move the magnet out from hitting the window assembly. It will also allow you to put in a bigger diameter speaker in, a 5 1/4 or a 6in, instead of the factory 4 in. There are many topics here on doing that. Let me know if you have any questions about it.

But they will fit.

Pics of the rear components mounted:

I mounted the tweeters in the rear doors right under the door handles. The crossovers are mounted behind and below the tweeters on the door metal.

Yep, the Kenwood is pushing them fine...but the volume is topping out too soon for my taste. It has 22watts RMS and these speakers can handle like 60watts RMS. Plus the sub has a lot more power to go. I feel I can add a good multichannel amp to the door components and really get a great soundstage.

Will the tweets fit in the front doors?

I guess it can't hurt to give it a look -Crutchfield has always been good about returns...and that's a killer discount...hmmm me wonders why...

Yes...the Blaupunkt tweets will fit in the factory location, in the front sails, using the factory screw to mount, on the 3rd gen 4Runner. No modification needed. The second picture from the top shows this mounting.

David,

Do you have a pic of this? How did you mount them? did you screw the COs into the door metal?

Your going to laugh....I used a nylon tie to some existing wiring...then duct taped it to minimize the rattling.

Guys and Gals....these speakers are pretty nice....they do perform better with more than factory power. The tweeters are better than the factory. The factory paper cones are good at bass, but are muddy at best. These will allow you to upgrade your sound system on the cheap.

Heck, most of us spend more than this on one dinner with friends...so why not spend this much for a couple years worth of enjoyment while driving. It is well worth the investment. I like to share good news when I can.

I don't think so, the door panel is clamping it down. I will later go in if they do and use doublesided tape I believe. LOL!

I bought the 5 1/4 separates for about the same price there. If I did it again I would try and cut a bigger hole in the spacer and mount a second set of the 6 3/4 inch ones.

I then painted the tweeter trim because it was clear and you could see the ragged edge of the hole I cut for them. I think I will repaint them silver instead of black.
