Haha, she's gettin there man
So far, I've got an estimated 35 hours into it.. I'm a slow fabricator, I know.
I got the idea to make a Jerry can holder for my 2 gas cans that are on the way, just need to figure out how I want to do it. I may need to go pick up more of the 1.5x1.5

Update..

Tapered the ends, Gonna be a PITA to cap, but oh well.

Ground down some of the wing support welds and gave em another pass..

Capped the ends for the 45* on the side wings

Here's how she sits. I will end up throwing some triangulation between the end of the side wing and the support that is there now.

Me too, Logan. I always thought it was lost hope if I wanted to weld ~1/4" stuff but it's all in the way you prep the metal.

Should get some more work done today.. Going to The Eagles concert later so I'm leaving at 4.. Priorities, priorities..

eheheh! Yeah, I cleaned my garage yesterday and found my welder... I'm motivated now to get the "wings" done on mine so I can protect the rear quarter.

Yup, prep goes a long way with flux core!

More for today.

Got the caps on the tapers from the 2x4-2x2, and also capped the side wing ends, so basically she's fully capped now..

Don't mind the dirty garage floor, I swept up when I was done today.

First thing this morning when I got out there I found a little square piece of scrap, and what do you know if fit perfectly in this awkward angle.

Drivers side

Passenger side

The taper cap

Bolted back up

So basically now that its all capped off I can start on the bedside protection. Originally I was going to go all the way to the top of the tail lights but I think I'm going to now go as high as just above the back up lights, or just under.
We'll see.

Someone on another forum said it looks hideous.. Well, form over function in my mind. The square tube bedside protecion may not be what everyone else does but it works for me and I actually like the way it looks on the truck. I've got both sides of the bedside protection fully welded. Tomorrow I'll grind down the welds on the drivers side and think about extra support for the bedside protection.
