I figured on painting them, but after I thought about it, they will be rubbing against the totes I have, so they too will get a coating...

Hey Crash,
I've just started spraying parts of the tub of my fj-40 with Duplicolor's stuff, should be doing the rest this week, and really like the finish as well, smooth, and not chunky or tacky like Durabak/Herculiner, etc. Did you lay primer down, or did you put it right on the bare metal?

youngguns4x4, I was freaked when I started lopping the frame off,lol..
I have done it both ways, and I had found bare metal as long as it was very clean, adhears to much better. One thing I did find a couple years back when I first started using it, if you lay it over somewhat fesh paint, it will want to react with it and bubble up... And yes, that Durabak/Herculiner stuff is nasty IMO, ever fall on the stuff, it will rip you to shreds.. Are you using the spray can version stuff?

AWESOME THREAD!
Your welds are very nice Crash. From a new welders standpoint, I hope mine look like that soon. Your Rig reminds me of one of those indestructable R/C trucks that articulate for days, freakin' sweet. Great work, and keep the updates coming!

Ok, well, it was alot of work, and was pretty darn tricky, not to mention, alot of work, did I say that already
Here is how it turned out ( You wil see the final setup once the new windshield is in) but its only with the seal sitting in place...
It didn't turn out as clean as I was hoping, but I think the only way I could have pulled that off, was to have some more sheet metal tooling (break press)

So, since the paint needs a lil drying time, I figured I would tackle this big heavy monster and get it assembled and ready for the up and coming links

Sweet work on the windshield, it's details like that which really make a build good.

Ahh, yes. Maybe you were a plumber in another life and those bad plumber habits. I.e. No Belt, came back to haunt you! Good work it looks great!

And here it looks like with some color on it... I was unsure of the blue at first, but I really do like it, it definately is going to be unique (plus, I won't remember who's rig is mine for a while, lol)
