30 bucks.... a buddy of mine had the metal that he bought 3 yrs ago and was not going to use now so he gave it to me. its 1.5x2.5 for the tubes running down and 2.5x2.5 for the ones going from sliders to frame rails.

Personally, I would do 3. Before I built sliders for my Tundra I emailed 4Crawler (Roger Brown) asking for some advice. I bought and cut enough material for 4 legs on each side. After asking 4Crawler, he basically said 4 is plenty, 3 is perfect and 2 will work just fine. He said he had made sliders with only 2 legs before, himself.
I'm curious. Whats the wall thickness?

First off, i applaud you for DIY... I always appreciate a person willing to build and experiment with their own two hands.
Second, onto the sliders... the function of rock slider has two purposes (3 maybe ill get to that). First order of business is protection obviously, its armor its there to take the hit not your sheet metal cab. Second order of business, and its in the name, slider. Is to slide across a rock, now this is a less crucial point but with experience you'll find it's pretty dang handy not to have hangups...(and from the looks of it, your legs hang below the slider rail, theres two potential rock hangups there...aka high center points)....and to further back that up, we go to frenched spring perches, perch sliders etc. flat belly pans, front skid plates you get the jist...the more slide action we have the more fun we have on the trail
oh yea that 3rd thing, soccer moms call steps, ya ok sliders do help the lil 5 ft somethins get into the rig ... not that i mind helping em up hehe
Ok so, you got the right duty material but hows it attached the frame raile, those bars could be solid steel and that thing could still break off under the weight of a dainty lil lady if its not welded properly to the frame. Did you use scab plates? Rosettes? Gussets?
The frame itself is 1/8" per layer (and its layered in spots...you know if you've ever cut thru to put a hangar tube)...
Regardless of all my jabbering, do yourself a favor and if nothing else, peace of mind and addd the third leg

i welded the tube right to the frame, i will be adding a third leg just to make sure i dont have any bending or braking them off.... i have got on them and jumped up and down and no cracks or anything and also put a jack to it and lifted the tire off the ground so as i can tell they are solid.
