Seems like it would have been easier to have finished the rear cage with the rear out still....maybe not. Will you need to chop the rear seats for the cage?
I am going to move part of the cage to the outside. All of the bars going from the front to the rear are going to be outside of the vehicle, so I needed to finish this part first.

One other interesting thing is that with the spare tire in the upright position the rear end sits a little less than a 1/4" lower than with the tire in the lower position in the back.
Ya that block should go thats for sure. Looks real good! Guess with only a 3 pack it would be difficult to take a pack out I love the stability with my roof goon too it was like night and day

makes sense that standing upright (and further rearward) the spare has more leverage as its weight acts on the springs. good thing to be aware of. any idea how much weight you lost by chopping it? had to have lowered you center of gravity at least a bit. again, nice work.

I am not sure how much weight was removed. If I had to guess it was 150lbs, but more importantly a lot of weight was moved forward over the axle.

That looks so cool...I haven't seen one bobbed as good as the one you've got sitting in the driveway there. I've got a 2nd gen that I'd love to do that to, but I'm SO scared!!! There's no way! :o) One day, it won't be my daily driver anymore, and I'll grow the balls to do what you've done. It really does look great, man!!!!!! Good job!

That is awesome looks real good. I am in the process/(i took the back windows out) of chopping my 91 runner. What options are there as far as sealing up the rear? I like your set up but I have the heavy tail gate and roll up glass I wanna get rid of that. I have see someone on here put a truck cab section on the back of theres and that seemed pretty good but what type of truck and year was that. Then theres what a cloth top option.

Also when you chop it arnt you loosing strength of the roof. Or will adding the rear section like you or adding the truck section make it just as strong, with tube bracing optional?

I am not sure of all the different options as far as using a truck cab. As far as loosing strength I don't believe I lost much if any. I was able to keep all of the pillar and bracking that was behind the back seats and attach the gate to that. Also I have an internal cage so It doesn't really matter.
