Choppin up the 4Runner
#21
I am going to move part of the cage to the outside. All of the bars going from the front to the rear are going to be outside of the vehicle, so I needed to finish this part first.

I am running 3 pack 63's so It would be tough to take out a pack, but I do have a 1" lift block that is going to be gone very soon. I took it out for a drive and it is amzing how much it help out the stability.
One other interesting thing is that with the spare tire in the upright position the rear end sits a little less than a 1/4" lower than with the tire in the lower position in the back.

That looks so cool...I haven't seen one bobbed as good as the one you've got sitting in the driveway there. I've got a 2nd gen that I'd love to do that to, but I'm SO scared!!! There's no way! :o) One day, it won't be my daily driver anymore, and I'll grow the balls to do what you've done. It really does look great, man!!!!!! Good job!

That is awesome looks real good. I am in the process/(i took the back windows out) of chopping my 91 runner. What options are there as far as sealing up the rear? I like your set up but I have the heavy tail gate and roll up glass I wanna get rid of that. I have see someone on here put a truck cab section on the back of theres and that seemed pretty good but what type of truck and year was that. Then theres what a cloth top option.
Also when you chop it arnt you loosing strength of the roof. Or will adding the rear section like you or adding the truck section make it just as strong, with tube bracing optional?
