About to have a bumper fabed a few q's...
Hey guys I got 883's for my ride wich means before I put em on I need to fab the bumper up or rip the living $h!t out of my cv's... Well I can get steel for a good price at work and I want a plate style bumper but heres my dilemma... Im not sure what thickness of plate to use for the bumper and mounts??? and where exactly to mount and if Im welding it to the frame or bolts??? Also I want to put a winch in so I want a slot for the winch but I dont have the money right now so it will be a empty slot for awhile but about how big should I leave for the winch and can I make my own winch plate to go off and any pics??? I know this stuff has been asked a bunch but its kind of a spur of the moment thing and I need to make a design up tonight or tomorrow for my bumper as my truck will be at the fab shop... thanks alot guys!!!

1/4" for the mounts and the whinch plate. 3/16 should be good for the bumper itself it it is designed well and welded good. Ever thought of just putting a reciever tube on there and having a removable whinch mount? Thats what I did for a customer.

Cool Ill send a pm... what I want to achieve is a low profile bumper with a good approach angle like a TJM but I dont see how they left the space for the winch or how you use it with it closed in like this???
Since I dont have the winch right now How would I build the bumper with the space for a winch because I will be getting one...

Anyone that can let me know if the winch is totally enclosed in these types of bumpers and if there are pros and cons to it or if making a cover plate would be a good idea???

I dont know if the tube style with dom tube would add a significant weight or not nor do i know the legallity of a setup with a stinger on it here in CA one thing im wondering is where people mount their lights and how on a tube bumper... i want to have good air flow to my radiator...

I searched and didnt find much info on what I was looking for... I have decided to do a tube style because it seems like the plate wouldnt get enough air to the radiator and I wouldnt be able to access the winch from the top...
