.50 CAL locking center console!
hey guys.. did a little work to the beast today..
made an AWESOME center console for 19$
you'll need:
.50CAL ammo box (mine has a hinge, some have to latches and no hinge)
3/8'' drill bit and pilot bit
(1) 3/8'' eyebolt with lock-washer and plate washer
(4) 3/8''x1'' bolts
(4) 3/8'' nyloc nuts
(8) 5/16 washers (for a nice fit on the bolt)
other tools needed to get under the carpet
my ammo can has the exact same dimensions as my center console minus the 'cupholder' so basically its 4 holes with 4 bolts
the tricky thing is finding that sweet-spot on the tranny hump where you can get 4 points of flat surface to drill..
the other fun part was modding the latch to accept the eyebolt and not contact it.. and to also have enough room to put the lock on..
its really simple to pull off .. and i think it looks as good as the protection it gives.. i threw a coat of clear on it to protect the weathered look and stop the rust
heres some night shots.. dont mind the wires and shavings.. and the haggard slot... it got dark on me before i could do the finish work
bolted up.. can also see the eyebolt
another shot of the slot and eyebolt
finished product

drill out the spot welds on the holding tab and remove it completely. I am working on one right now for my crusher. I am going to sandblast it and paint it grey on the outside to match the carpet and white on the inside to make it easier to find stuff at night.
