4runner frame

4runner frame
So quick question. I have a 90 4funner sr5 5speen 4x4 with a 22re. Are these frames made with a steel that have a high carbon content? I welded shock towers on over the weekend to accommodate my new fox shocks and I did the usual test of wire speed/voltage on similar metals, then went to weld to the frame, and well, to be honest, it wasn't pretty. Well the welds weren't as pretty i mean. I went and got it a little airborne and the hoops held up, but I'm scared the welds didnt penetrate as much as I'd like. The new shocks are amazing in the dirt after a quick re-valve but I'm just wondering if the frame is a higher carbon content than the 4130 cromo the hoops were made of. If anyone knows for sure the steel ID on these frames I'd love to know. It almost seemed like i was welding to a semi truck frame.

well it just comes to your weld prep and skill in out of position welding.
Your fit up is also critical ..
If you can`t see the joint clearly you can`t make good welds.
You need to be in a comfortable position if your muscles are straining to hold you in position your welds suffer .
