hey love the exo cage so far man. i just did the 5 inch rough country lift on my 93 runner. i need a roof rack now to throw my spare tire up top. but i dont have factory rails on mine. and i didnt see any on yours either. how did you bolt down the rack or do you have factory rails on there?

hey jeff, welcome to Yotatech. the factory frame rails mount to the sub frame of the roof in exact places. i would recommend a yakima or thule style rack where there's feet that mount squarely on the roof itself. do pay attention to the last activity in the threads you post in as the last post before yours was in 2006. cheers man and happy wheeling.

....funny stuff!
Glad you like the cage.
Since the thread got bumped Ill add...
It has worked great and I am still running the same cage with no modifications. I did flop it a couple years ago and caused zero damage to the truck, put it back on its wheels, finished the trail, drove home, and parked it.
The cage does tend to move a bit, I can see where it has contacted the body in the past. But I think that is kinda the nature of an exo on a wagon, there is just no internal bracing. But it certainly has met my needs.
And Ive built some other pretty sweet exo'es on my buddies trucks.

Since this got bumped up out of the depths of YT, Ill update for future searchers.
I guess the exo has been on now for 6-7 yrs. I don't really think I would change anything about it. It has been flopped, and it hits trees, walls, and rocks all the time. Nothing has really shifted, bent, or dented. The doors have taken a lickin' but they still are fully functional. A lot of the wheeling I do now is long/long distance trips (1-2 weeks), so I now just pop off the front doors for the week.
If I had to build another rig, and wanted another "exo" I would think long and hard about how to minimize the jungle gym (Ive never really cared for the look of exo's). I think I would incorporate a lot of the body into the structure of the cage. In some areas, I think I would actually rip cut the tubing and weld it to the body.
And I have to post a newer pic....
