I'm curious about the shackles up front too. Seems like they'd be rock anchors for the type of terrain you run. I thought you'd french hangers into the front of the frame rails so you had at least the approach clearance you have now and run the shackles on the back end.

Can't wait to see it get started...

Nissan.

Should be done by Sunday. Really all I'm doing is copying a ton of trucks that are already done. Thay all work and mine will work as well.

New thinking. I never would have considered a conversion until I met the SWANKy cround.

South West Area Nissan Klub Yota.

doooods-

I have an FJ-62. I took it to Moab with the group. No one but the 62 even tried the alternate golden crack line. Only myself and Hunt did Lions back, I did it in the 62. The 62 did not break anything. The 62 ROCKS! I want a 62 !!!

But I can't have one. I have too much money in this 1999 4Runner. So I meet these Nissan guys...................

FJ-62 and 1999 4Runner molded together for the best of both worlds.

Tune in Wed..........................

Looks great Steve! It's already a lot different than the designs I've seen so far. Nice work!

Hey you prick, wait for me!

I predict scattered showers in Tempe on Wednesday when the IFS hits the floor.

Sua and shackles up front are about the only way you can get away with 3" of lift. With the shackles up front, the axle will swing forward upon articulation, away from the body. And with an SUA you dont have to worry about tie rod/drag link hitting the leaf springs.

Am I right?

Thanks Adam, I knew there had to be a reason why other than lift issues. Well if I EVER SAS my rig(in like the next6-7yrs) I will be following this design, the last thing I want is a tipsy monster truck.

So wait, it makes sense to not end up with a monster truck?

I thought that monster trucks were cool.

Wait till you see the ramp Steve has to test the flex. It is really cool.

im sorry it is just hard for me to see all this working as well as you say it will. We just took and fj60 to hot springs and it did really well, but everything that you are doing seems to be everything that we undo on other trucks. ie if it came SUA we change it to SOA if the shackles in front of the axle we do a shackle reversal. i am very anxious to see how this works and i hope that you can prove me wrong. i wish i could find the links i had to the tacomas with fj80 axles and sway away coilovers, they seemed to have worked pretty well.

You undo all the stuff to fit bigger tires. My tires fit right now. No need to go taller.

This is all for Strength, not to be a ramp champ.

Think stock like FJ. That's it, plain and simple, it's just alot stronger. And SA.

If this does not score at least 779 on a 27 degree ramp, I will personally come down there and cut it off.

LOL... Just found a neat RTI site...

http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...alculators.htm

779 on a 27* ramp would be 37.25" from the bottom of the tire to the ground...

It's me. I was dusting it off and getting it running again.

Cheese is in New Mexico right now, should be here tonight. Brent flys in Friday. It all comes apart tomorrow and plasma off the bracketry.

The needed steel was delivered this morning to plate the front frame rails, I have a full tank of welding gas and an extra 50 pound roll of wire. I also picked up all the oil, lube, etc at Checker Auto.

We should be all set. Tonight is my Adv. Weldng class and then in the morning it's time to get busy.
