My East Coast '88 4-Runner

Picked her up for a Grand,, mostly stock and well maintained. Cap had never been off and all moving parts are tight
A few mods in the works for her,, nothing too drastic but will post when they happen. First came the exhaust and removal of the running boards. 31 x 10.5's are going on her when i pick up the rims.
Some tranny work will slow the ($$$$) mods for a month or so
As i bought her
Home in the yard

Starting to make some changes.
First was a new muffler and next was the removal of the running boards

I just picked up a set of used 31"x10.5x15 BF Goodrich AT's that will be going on in the next day or two.
Next is some tranny work so that will slow down things down for awhile

With my "new" 31's

changed the oil this morning and replaced the air filter. Baby steps
Had the truck to a buddy today and he figures the rims are solid,, but butt ugly. Gonna wire wheel, prime and paint on the weekend. Also have a new master cylinder on the way. Gonna try this one myself

Found an old shale pit near home today and finally had some fun with her. Not much of a test but it was fun anyways

found some parts off a part-out

removed wipers and sanded down, primed and painted

they look better

removed skid plate

sanded then primer

two coats later and lookin much better

Recently found a decent set of 15" Aluminum rims and also found a good used tranny. Both are waiting to be picked up next weekend.
Sucks to be short on cash but soon things will progress

starting to pull a few "unwanted's" from the runner.
I spent quite a bit of time trying to get the spare tire, tow bar and the bumper mounts off but they have been there since i was twinkle so i left them for today. Gonna have to use the cutting torch on the hitch and also on the bumper mounts. I'll get the tire off however ican and since the new spare will be riding in the back i really don't care how crude i have to get to remove it Getting her somewhat ready for body work in about three weeks

picked up the black grill from a parts truck not far from here. I like the black much better than chrome

These are garbage wheels anyways so i kinda rushed through blackening them. They'll do for now. I do like the black rims though

Finally got the tranny out and inspected the clutch and throw out bearing and guess what? Yep,, still in great shape so now what Well I installed the new kit and then removed the plate and here is where i found my problem. The shaft bearing is toast!! Have one on order for the morning so unless i break either of the snap rings i should be good to go.

This has been a little bit of an adventure when your not 100% sure of what your doing and tearing it out by yourself.

Had to use the cutting torch to get the old shaft bearing out and what do you know?? Scored a gear in the process so i picked up a used tranny this morning(4th was going in mine anyways). Made the swap in pretty good time and spent the rest of the day and evening getting her all back together. Running well enough now although a slight hesitation into first from time to time and also seems to be laboring a bit when idling
Too late to dig into it so thats tomorrows problem
By the way,,NO plans to open a shop anytime soon!!
