I'm going to try to make it to Moab as well, pending on work load.

Are there any cabarets in Moab? It has been a few years since I have been there.

Be sure to bring your extra dollar bills. :hillbill: |

Utah is BYOB (beer and b _ _ _ _ ) last year I had more weight in booze than spare parts |
I keep forgetting, the state of 3.2% beer..........
If you are going to haul a bunch of beer/booze, might as well throw in a few local "entertainers" for a "One weekend show!" Rent the local moose lodge, fab up a 2" DOM shiny pole.... Send out some flyers....Charge admission..... Heck if the deal was brokered right, the trip could be paid for. now who is willing to sit in a car for 8 hours with a dancer? OK don't answer that. |

im gonna plan on making it to Moab this year. cant wait.
|
I just talked to Ben at the Silver Sage and the place is almost all full. I got a room, so plan ahead or you might have to stay somewhere else.
May 28 to June 1, Moab Utah. |
Got my reservation. They have plenty of rooms on Wed and Thurs nights, but only down to three rooms left for Fri and Sat. Two of those rooms are smoking.

Moab Camping
What’s the camping situation like in Moab? Plenty of State, BLM and NP land on the map, what’s accessible and somewhat close to town? BLM offers group reservations only, anyone else interested? The site says they opened 4new camping areas.

Try to make sure the "cabin" is in good shape. Perhaps ask for pics. The first time we got one, it was very rough. But was only $20 and made for a very good story to tell. Could have even slept 2 couples. :great: Cabin or tool shed?: http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f1...06/Cabin06.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f1...06/Cabin04.jpg The 2nd cabin we found was much nicer. Even had a TV and was waterproof. :eeek:: http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f1...7/Cabins02.jpg |
Thanks for the advice. I searched and found the Lazy Lizard amongst others, having good descriptions and pricing. Looks like the cabin set-up would be the winner.
http://www.lazylizardhostel.com/index.html If we could get a “bum group” staying at this kind of place it may make the accommodations all the better. Although, a hostel may not be the place to reek of gas guzzling adventure and park trucks. |

Does Hughes have his reservations yet? The Sage seems like it is getting more popular every year.
Edit: I am in...last non-smoking room. |
With Elvota out of commision for the time being and the fact that partying and general debauchery prevented us from running DeSoto this past w/e, I propose we change the May 3rd run to DeSoto. Also, it will be getting warm in the desert and it would be nice to have a little elevation under us. Opinions?
BTW I don't have that w/e cleared at work yet and I have a lot of requests already for May. So there is a chance that after my BIG idea here, I could end up not attending. Duh!?! So we could certainly look at April dates too. Also, should we look at other April alternatives for Reynolds-led runs? Steve, any chance of your getting some w/e trail time in? |
May 3 to DeSoto works for me.
|
Desoto / May 3 would be a good alternative. I'm only about 50% though, as I will have friends in town that I would like to bring along but don't know our schedule yet.
|
Well, you guys need to figure out for sure if you want to do the run, if you do, no problem, but if you can't make it, I have a rock buggy to put a motor in and a 4Runner to get ready for Moab.
I will make time if runs are needed, but if everyone is going to flake out at the last minute, I would rather get my junk fixed once and for all. :banger: |

I won't flake if I commit as long as I have my truck. :)
I don't ever want to let it out of my sight again after this last month..! :bigok:

How is she with axles? :hillbill:

Cool, let me know. We can fit one or two in before Moab. I may or may not have a running vehicle for Bad Medicine. I am working on it tough, have the new motor here, the old one was already sent back. Motor brackets are at the powder coater and a big load of Toyota parts for the engine I will pickup friday.
|
Give me a holler when you're ready to put the engine in, I'll come by and give you a hand. Do you have torque specs for the 4 banger?
Anybody have an open seat for Bad Medicine? |
You can have my open seat. BM has been on my list for a long time now and that exit will interesting to say the least...
I have some work to get done on the truck before that run. |
OK. I do in fact have May 3rd off, so I'm on if anyone else is.
|
May 3: Looks like we're heading to Chiricauha that weekend.
|
The 3rd I have booked already. I'm guessing a day out in FJ (Bad Medicine and something else, because I don't have a vehicle that can make it.) and Moab will be it for this season.

End of May typically.
|
OK. Sounds like minimal interest. I'll look for something else to do. Thanks.
|
There is always night runs. :banger:
|
So what's the plan for next Saturday (17th)?
Westfall - You still looking to run Bad Medicine? |
I was going to post and ask the same thing. I don't have a vehicle that will make BM, I still have that engine to put in.
I would not mind going and running Log Corral, I have not done that one in over a year. |
I don't really think my truck is going to be able to make the last fall on BM without a beating and then running a line. Since Moab will only be a week and a half off from the 17th, I'm not really looking to break anything I'll need to fix before then. I'm happy to run the trail up to the fall and then watch the show for anyone who wants to attempt it. :hillbill:
I would also be up for a run on Log Corral, especially since Reynolds said it has gotten harder. :great: |

Moab is not happening for me this year - which is unfortunate - I had a blast there last year and you guys will have a great time up there. You guys all have fun and drive safe! |
Well as much as I would like to get out this weekend, I can't. I have to re-pack the Dana 44 wheel bearings for Moab. I also put the rebuilt engine back in the buggy this weekend and need to get that thing up and running again, I am close and with a new motor I should not have any more issues. Then I will be much more reliable for these trips, I am sorry that I have not done more this spring to make these trips happen.
I will make it up to you guys in the fall, I will set up a good schedule and make sure they all come together. |
