BLKNBLU's SAC

oh man that sucks dude. Could be worse.
Truck is looking great! Your SA looks so good. The setup looks perfect. Welding and fabrication are great. I hope mine comes out even a fraction of how good yours looks.
Thanks for you help on the Head Gasket. It looks like the motor needs to be rebuilt. I had it up and running today and it is burning serious oil.

Thanks for the compliments but most of the props go to Steve Schaefer at Sonoran Steel. That's where the brains are on this project. I'm just the muscle.
I hope you mean that you started the truck up and checked out the symptoms, because if you did a HG in a day I have to bow down.

hahahah no. I got the thing torn apart today and the motor is toast. Burned rings, valves seals are history. I have to pull it and rebuild it.
The truck has been in trouble for a while and needs some attention. I did put a new door and fender on it while all this was going on. I was the JY and found an 85 2wd with a perfect door! I paid $75 for the door and $20 for the fender and a few other goodies. I sanded and primered the door and fender, put them on and it looks and fits great!
On to a new "22r rebuild thread."

So, I guess it's done. I have it all back together and while it still shudders a fair bit locked into 4WD it seems to be working OK. At least this time I didn't rip up my ARB when I went into 4WD. (thanks ZUK)
A little pic comparo

And end:
Not too sure about this drive shaft angle, but it will have to do for now.
Time to work out the kinks. Yay!!

That front drive shaft is pretty steep, this is a cookie cutter TrailGear/Marlin/All Pro swap so your truck is the same as everyone elses.
Is Tall Brian's like that? I don't remember. You got a winch.
Now you just need a 4.7 gear.

The damn fairlead that came with the winch doesn't fit the Marlin bumper so I guess I'm getting a Hawse and syn line sooner rather than "some day".
That's what I'm hoping for too.

Dude, that's a pretty steep angle. I do have duel cases, so it moves the upper mount back 6-8" or so, but I think your main issue is your truck is so f'in huge. I think those springs should settle quite a bit after you use them. You stand a good chance of a u-joint binding at that angle, especially at droop.
I'll post a pic of my front d-shaft tomorrow for reference.

Thats steep but it might be ok...only way to find out! I'm sure once you break in those springs it will only help. Just carry extra u-joints and don't worry about it unless the situation arises.
I put those same springs on my truck and mine sits lower, but I think my shackles are shorter and I've got some more weight too.

Found some dirt to putter around in today. Nothing fancy, just looking for problems.
Looks twisted up nicely
Hmm. Tweak #1 to deal with.
the bumpstop at that point
The relative position of the truck
The front view
And the amount of up travel still available in the front
Tried to do the same on the other side but couldn't get it stuffed enough
Another view. Still a couple of inches before contact at this point and the truck leaning enough to make me nervous. The truck seemed pretty stable though as I foolishly wiggled it a bit.
The front locker seems OK, though I didn't really find a worthy test out there. I took it up a little climb with and without the locker on and it seemed smoother and easier with it on so...

Since I have those same springs, I will get a photo posted to compare the driveshaft angle as well, keep in mind of course I have dual cases as well.
Mike, at least you wont have to worry about dragging it through and over the rocks as much as Brian has been doing lately! It will stay nice and shiny with all that clearance!

Tis merely a flesh wound. Maybe someday you'll bring your truck out again to drag over the rocks?

/dream sequence on
". . . hey Reynolds, how ya doing? Good seeing you out again. Hey Westfall, truck looks good. Hey Jon, you gonna show us what that IFS can do today? etc...etc...etc."

Yay! Finally got to bounce it around a bit today. All seems well except for the one rub area I already knew about. I didn't have a good feel for the truck like how much tippiness is too much etc. Looks like there will be a decent sized learning curve. And I really need to do the 4.7 gear...
I don't have action shots, maybe later after some e mail from the other participants. For now, here is the brochure photo.
