Gentlemen I present our new logo in its final form! Thank you so much to my sister for all of her help! If anyone knows anyone in the printing industry shoot me a pm. I want to get this made into decals, sweatshirts, t-shirts, etc.

The majority of us are heading up there Friday afternoon to setup camp. Then we will be wheeling all day on Saturday (21st).

There were some delays. Now they are shooting for me picking it up tomorrow after work. I'm a little pissed but good things come to those who wait...or so I've been told.

Well I got my truck back yesterday. I had a grin doing 80 all the way home. Up until about 10 miles from home. All of a sudden I start hearing a ticking as I accelerate. I check my oil to find that the stick is bare except a tiny amount on the tip. They either didn't put enough oil in it or oil is going somewhere. I had terrible gas mileage the whole way home as well. I'm pissed off that I possibly caused damage to the lifters and cam by running it with low oil. The journey was 176 miles. I don't know what to think. The truck was making incredible power and felt like a new truck. I'm just upset that I paid this extra amount to have a motor with 49k to go and run it low on oil my first drive with it. I'm really down on the dumps and don't know what I can do to find out if any damage was caused or not. I am going to change the oil and put synthetic 5-30 in after work. I will see if that fixes the tick I guess. Any other advice fellas? I could really use some right about now. Here is a picture of what I found when I checked the oil.

Talked to my boss about it (an old timer with a lot of knowledge). He told me that if I have anything on the stick that means that I'm at most 1 - 1 1/2 quarts low.

Just do an oil change, and look for metal shavings in the oil. Im going to venture that it just wasn't topped off. Start with the easy stuff.. I'm sure it will be fine. Its not a toyota if it doesn't have tapping lifters..

Agreed, should be ok but a do an oil change and check the outgoing for any shavings or metal fragments.

My guess is they didn't top off the oil.

I am assuming that you are not seeing any signs of leakage? To be safe I would recommend making sure the filter is well seated (which I am sure you would do if you change the oil anyway).

Did you contact them yet? If not I would suggest doing so. If this was an oversight on their part and it caused damage they should be responsible to correct it.

Keep us apprised and if you need a hand with anything let me/us know

I did contact them. I'm waiting to hear back from them. My first email was a bit of a rant. I apologized for that this morning but still made it clear I was not happy. We will see what happens after I get the change done after work I suppose.

Guess it depends on what kind of oil pan you have.. if you have an open top you can just run a magnet around in the oil and it will pick up any metal that may be there.

If you have an enclosed one you can possible drain it slowly into another one through a mesh or something or into a container so you can run a magnet around in it.

I had to add 2 quarts of oil to get it to where it was supposed to be. Everything seems fine now except for I have an exhaust leak. Going to try and get that sorted tomorrow.
