truck only starts with clutch bypass switch on
I have another question for the toyo gurus out there i have a starting issue, 88 toyota pickup 22re only starts with clutch bypass switch on ive replaced starter, one of the wires going to the starter "little black one" positive battery terminal going to the starter, starter relay, added a big ground directly to starter, before i did this it was intermittent starting with or without clutch bypass switch on, now it works every time with button pushed in just not the normal start with clutch

Where the harness comes into the cab firewall from the drivers fender, you will see a two wire plug, from there you should be able to see the switch. What you can do if the switch is bad is to take a jumper wire on the plug to the harness and bypass that safety switch.

thanks for the advice i will check when i get home, i love these rigs and im just getting into building them i checked out your runner rebuild pretty awesome man, i just bought a runner off craigslist a few weeks ago thats in pretty good shape ill be posting pics soon, i do have a question about my runner as well though, it has a little bit of a hard time cranking and when it does fire it shutters around 500 rpm with the check engine light on then i give it a little gas and it snaps out of it turning check engine off and moving the idle up to about 800-1000 rpm? check engine light gives ten flashes i beleive thats an indication of the ignition if im correct, the ignition coil has been replaced i have the receipt for it.
