Thumbs down Wheeler's Offroad

Well, after visiting the website http://www.wheelersoffroad.com/toywheels.htm I ordered a set of their 15x8 wheels that were "designed" to fit 4runners with 16" wheels. I even called and visited with the people at Wheelers and they assured me that they would fit. Well, I ordered them up and got them in 2 days before a big run. Guess what? No fit!! They wouldn't clear the caliper. I have a 98 4x4 limited. Well, I called them up and pretty much got the run around. They told me to look at the sticker on the driver's door jam and see if it came with 16's. I looked and told them it did, they said that was the reason why. I thought, you must be kidding. After all the talk of clearing and they would be that retarded in their reply. They eventually gave me the advise of getting some wheels spacers. I couldn't believe would even say that, after all the talk of clearing the calipers. I went ahead and kept the wheels and put some 32's on them and mounted them on our Tacoma instead. I scrambled to get some 16x8 wheels/tires locally for the run. Needless to say, if you have a Limited 4runner the calipers are bigger than standard 4runners and their wheels won't clear. I will never buy anything from those people again

Sorry to hear about your experience - for the most part, the guys at wheelersoffroad.com have been great to do business with and to buy from. I'm sorry though that your experience was so negative.

Too bad you didn't see this thread before you ordered...

Gary explained to me that those rims would not work on a 4runner.

Yeah, that sucks! They should have told me that when I asked and before I purchased them I just wanted to post and let everyone else know about it. Thanks.

I had great experience with them. I bought my old man emu suspension from these guys. IT was top notch. I think they're a great company.

PS. My "sales person" was named Jason, just in case you wanted to know who to steer clear of
Jason has always been helpful and more than knowledgeable enough to answer my questions. When I called to inquire about the 16" rims for the 4th gen., he was very informed and knew they would not fit due to the brake size of the Sport Edition. No reason to steer clear of him - just be sure to do your research before actually purchasing anything.

You're right, sorry for saying his name on here. That is out-of-line. You must feel my frustration though Actually I was "informed" by someone that I trusted to tell me a product that would work for my application. I searched on here and read all good feedback. Maybe it was an isolated incident, but I still felt it could have been rectified in a better manner...

No, I totally understand your frustration ... and agree it could have been rectified in a better manner!

I'm glad you were able to find a use for the wheels though so at least they aren't just sitting in your garage!

Thumbs up Wheeler's Off-Road

I'm very happy with the products and customer service at Wheeler's Off-Road in Grants Pass, Oregon. http://www.wheelersoffroad.com/

I ordered a set of thier black powder-coated 16x8 alloy wheels, black lugs and thier ploy sway bar bushing set.

They worked very closely to help with special shipping arrangements and were easy to stay in contact with.

They even threw in a free set of wheel cups!

I will defenently do business with them again, and probably stop in at the store when we're down for Christmas.

Erich

I have those wheels, they are great.
It will be cool to see how they look on a black 4runner.

I agree: Wheeler's rocks. Ordered a Daystar lift kit from them and was 100% pleased!
