I was wondering where the best place to mount my hi-lift jack is. Under the trailer hitch? on the back side of my skid plate? DONDE!!!!

Here is a custom "Sliderz" type bar that has been made into a Hi-Lift mount on Jowies rig.

It was a cool setup.
The bar went across the back of the bed where a toolbox would sit, and the Hi-Lift bolted onto it.

 

hi-lift does make a mounting kit, i guess you could mount it somewhere in the bed.

no, I have a custom bumper with no real place to put tabs to hold a jack (http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...2/HPIM2761.jpg) it was put on before I bought it.

On a side note, does anyone know of a tire mount that goes on the tail gate like a jeep? If so, is it practical? could it screw up my tailgate by bending the metal or will it hold up? I am thinking it mounts on the inside and loops over with a rubber pad protecting the metal from scratching... any ideas? If it is a good idea, I will talk to my brother about fabricating one... or something.

 

You must first have a yakima roof rack system or similar. And of course im not responsibe if this doenst work.

Not certain if this has been done but here goes. I used the yakima plastic mounts you know the ones they use to mount pretty much everything to the cross bars. They are obviously round in the center and they have a bolt with a square fitting head that threads to a plastic t handle which houses the nut. Anyhow I removed the bolt and t handle and replaced it with a 3/8"X3" stainless bolt , after pushing that through I used a washer of sorts that can be locked in place with a threaded allen bolt then set the hi-lift on that and bolted it down with 1 washer 1 split washer and a 3/8" interior stainless nut. No it isnt that fancy and it should cost less than $20 depending on how much the yakima parts are. but it works well ! I will post pics this afternoon.
