Need some help.
Hey guys, Im new to YotaTech, I've been workin on my newest project. 1985 Toyota Ext. Cab. I put axles out of a 79 yota under it, i put 5.29 gears front/rear along with lockers. I'm currently running 35inch no name mud tires lol. I also put a 307ci pontiac with TH350 tranny, under the hood. Now to my question, with all this said what is the largest tire i can run WITHOUT tearing everything up when i take it out. Yes this will be a DD. I will be using this truck for mud and hunting. ALOT of mud. The tires i plan are using are either swampers or ground hawgs. So Any Help???

35's is probably pushing it with all that torque and stock axles.
Upgrade to chromoly shafts and fullfloat in the rear and you should be good to wail on 37's or be easy on 40's.
With as light as that truck should be though, you shouldn't need too much tire...

Its just me, guess cuz im young but i hate havin the smallest truck at the mud hole lol. I like to be different and make my own rules( such as pontiac 307 i had layin around lol) but what ya think about 36x12.50 TsL's? I would love to run 40's but when i do that, the yota will receive fullsize axles=) until then i wanna beat up my yota axles lol

The 36" TSL's are bias ply and HEAVY. I would highly recommend Longfields in the front. Rear should be OK.
What other mods - highsteer, relocated front axle, etc?

I dont think you need a full floater rear, though. I have never seen a rear end break, im sure it happens, but I wheel with some guys that beat the crap out of toy axles on 42" tires....v-8's....mental problems....no problems.

but quick question, even though all my truck will see, why do i need to stregthen my axles up so much just to run a set of 36's? I have buddys, with everything from old school chevys to rangers with TTB runnin 35 plus inch tires. and nothin breaks? I thought Yota was the baddest small axle you could have? I'm new to Toyota lol just tryin to learn everything i can, Also can someone tell me the best place to order new oem parts for restoration purposes? i was thinkin LMC might but havent checked, Thanks again guys

DIDNT 79 TRUCKS COME WITH DANA 30 front axle and tcase or something or was that earlier that they all were conversions of 2wd trucks?? i know up in canada we got those b4 we got the real deal toyota 4x4!

Because they are lucky or easy on equipment. Bone stock, a Toyota axle is comparable to a Dana 44. A Toyota axle with Longfields is quite superior to even a built 44, getting into 9" or Dana 60 territory.

no prob yoder, ill get some tomorrow when its light outside, the body is ugly right now, i still gotta sand it primer it and PAINT IT!! lol lil more info is yes it has the dana 30 front end, the motor is a 307 out of a firebird but it is a chevy motor, Th350 tranny(with shift kit) bad ass b&m shifter lol, i had to but 600$ worth of adapters to make the tranny and TF case bolt up. Pipe bumpers front and rear. Now that the Sas and motor swap is out of the way the body and interior are my next projects. I had a 99 sas ranger with 2.5L and always wanted a toyota. So i bought one and now its like a passion. Its gonna be my DD when i get done, but in the mean time im havin to drive my bike back and fourth to work. and its been freakin cold! anything else guys? And i hope them longfeilds will hold up, im rough on my toys lol
