My Custom Snorkle

My Custom Snorkle
In a previous thread someone asked me to post info about my snorkle. I didnt want to hijack the thread. So Ill do it here.
About a year ago I had the need for a snorkle, and didnt feel the need to shell out a fortune for the arb, so I built this one for about $20...
here is how the plumbing enters the engine bay. I had to remove my downey open element system and dig out my stock air cleaner...
I used (I beleive 2.5 in.) pvc, some elbows, and some shop vac hose to route it under the fender. The pvc comes up out of the fender, and joins up with a threaded joint so I can rotate the intake. Then an elbow into a drain thing and a drain cap. It works flawless, and yes I have needed it...
I hope that helps alittle.

If you wanted you could bend up some straps to mount it to the inner fender.
IF mine gets loose Ill do that.

Thanks for posting.
I plain on doing this mod over the weekend, maybe. I have a few more questions. What did you use to drill the hole? Did you get the parts from Home Depot or Lowes?

PS - For anyone interested I’m planning to do a write-up when I do this.

Looks great, but it looks like it blocks the road ahead a bit too much for my liking.
Perhaps sticking it straight up at the same height?
One of these days when I get the go ahead from the wife I would like to make my own snorkel.

I've always wondered - how do you keep the moisture out when it rains?
I mean no matter what direction it's facing you'll have water going in side and does it just puddle at the bottom of the airbox?

As far as moisture goes I have never even had moisture in the air box anywhere. After the hardest rains on the highway, Ill pull over and check and not a drop anywhere. So no worries!

4rnr hey thanks for the info on your snorkel. I really like it. If my mom ever lets me cut a hole in my fender i will definitely do this. what did you use to secure it to your air the pvc pipe to your air box? Did you use some type of glue to seal this. thanks again
