Anyone running 8(+)inchs of lift on 2nd gen.?

I just picked up a 1991 4runner to do a SAS on. I have an 81 Toy axle, ordered 8" springs from Alcan, ordered the SAS kit from Marlin Crawler (- springs & shocks), and 5.29s with lockers from Randy's. I'm going to try and fit 39.5-13.50-15 under it. The front spirng hangers should give me another 1.5" and I can always add a body lift.

Has anyone set a second gen.4runner this high or on 40's? If so, do you have any info for me or pics. I know I'll have a lot of questions as I get into this. So, any help will be a big help.

Why so high? Here in South Mississippi on the Louisiana line we don't have any rocks but we do have deep mud.

THANKS!

you swapping the motor??

i'm not quite sure of the lift in the front of my truck it changes so much day to day its suppose to be 5.5 sased with allpro 4" springs and its more like 7-9 depending how you park for the front.... i can fit 37's NO BL

i have OME LandCruiser 2.5" in the rear = 5.5" but think i would need to trim for 37's or use bumpstops or swaybar

You didn't get your answers in your previous thread?

This section of the board doesn't have the traffic that the main section does, but the people who know about your question will see it.

Haha. Well I kinda know the guy a little and that's an old pic. He was probably about 17. I think he is over 20 now. Really sweet 4runner if you ask me. Doesn't make much of a daily driver though.

That Runner is definitely built. That's my friend's. It's got a 385 under the hood, D60 rear, Yota 8" front (soon to be a D60 as well), leaf-sprung front and rear, and it's on 39.5" Iroks now.

[QUOTE=customcruiser]you swapping the motor??

I'll be swapping the motor later down the road after I blow it up. Its only a matter of time. I've already spent $2500 on the truck & $3000 in parts & I don't have a tire yet or drive shafts. I'm guessing about $8000 on a toy to dog the heck out of is enough. (the wife calls it stupid!???)

Thanks for the pics & info

[[ (the wife calls it stupid!???) ]]

Maybe you can get her involved when it's done.

Wifes are funny critters. Mine was like that too, all the money I spend on my toyz (boats mostly, and the motorcyle and the convertible and always the trucks...) she never understood. So one day I suggested she could have interests too - maybe SHE might want to spend money on something for HERSELF? (Dangerous suggestion - use it with Extreme Caution!) She bought a sporty car. Cool! She always greeted wheels and tires and custom stuff with "nice" <thin-lipped barely-tolerant eyes-glazed look - you all know what I mean..> she just didn't "get" it. She thought all that stuff was "silly." But NOW - SHE has Euro tails and Projector headlights and CF dash and a Killer Stereo with Thumpin Subs and Eibachs and Konigs with 40 series tires - she's HOOKED! NOW she wants to drive the Flamed rig too, and hands me wrenches when I'm tinkerin with it. NOW she changes her own oil! OH, and she bought a ROTOTILLER! Turns out she always wanted a garden... It's hers, she uses it, she has never asked me to help. Her girlfriends say "why don't you get Phil to till that garden?" She says "Why? It's MY garden." Great girl, I knew I liked her for good reason.

Miles, I really like that guy's truck ... even the paint scheme. I don't think the guy looks weird, either. He looks nice to me. Doubly so with that truck!

that is most likely a Hawaii 4Runner. The Oahu guys love that stretched out tire thing. I hate it. JMHO.

Well, I've got the front springs in now. 18"s from the top of the axle to the frame. Haven't started with the rear yet. I'm going to get the front end all together first.
