i have a 1992 4wd pickup which is used for parts and a 1989 2wd pickup which runs and i wanted to lift

for the front i was wondering if the spindles from the 4wd will fit the 2wd
my coworker has somthing like that on his truck but im not sure if i have to change the arms though

and for the rear i can just put the axle underneith the springs right

You know, if your looking to do a lifted 2wd for offroad, Jeenyus04 has the right idea. Better in every way strength wise vs. a 2wd chassis & suspension.

My advice is basically the same. The only things I add to it are ditch the front differential, CV's, and front driveshaft to save weight. Keep the transfer case and 4low becomes 2low. And you got yourself a REAL PreRunner.

If you mean the front wheel spindle then the answer is NO.

The 4wd uses a hollow front wheel spindle to allow the axleshaft to pass through to the hubs. A completelly different design.

If you wanted to convert your 4wd to a 2wd - ie. get rid of the axleshafts etc. then you "might" be able to do something with the front wheel spindles off the 2wd, but I doubt it would be simple.

SOME 2WD trucks (aka "prerunners" and the 2WD 4Runner) use a 4x4 frame and suspension and deleted the front axle.

Most of the "common" 2WD trucks had a totaly different front suspension.
If I recall right the lower A arm was an I arm with a strut rod.

So - it depends on what your 2WD is...

I can honestly say that you should get that 4x4 running.

My buddy has an 89 2wd truck. He's cranked up the torsion bars, lengthened his rear shackles, and added a body lift. Granted, it sits high enough to put on a larger sized tire (nothing beyond 29" though).

->Hills that I could climb up, he had to get a running start for.

->I drove down into beach sand and camped next to the lake. He got stuck in the sand.

->He did OK when we were in dry stuff, but when we go mudding?!?! Well, let's just say you saw me crawling around and you saw him spinning his tires everywhere he went. I'm suprised he hasn't blown a head gasket with all the over-revving he does trying to compete with my 4x4.

-> In the end, I'm the one pulling his ass out of the mud and sand.

Now he wants a 4x4 BADLY.
