Thumbs down And once again...

... the light is on!

We bought the truck from a leasing company, but this issue is being handled by a local Toyota dealer, from whom the vehicle was originally purchased.

The Toyota shop was supposed to pull the code while the truck was running and the light was on, which is how it was delivered to them last week. I don't know if they retrieved the code or not, or how specific it was about the cause of the problem.

Oh well. The selling dealer is committed to finding the solution, and since they're happy to give us a rental in the process it's not the end of the world. In the meantime, the brakes have been inspected several times so I'm not too worried about safety. As for the cause of the warning light, time will tell.

On newer vehicles the sensor is so sensitive that the fluid might just be dirty. I dont know if the type of sensor your truck has but if its the density type, it could be dirty fluid. Do a brake sys flush and see what happens.

You could always just take the bulb out of the idiot light then it won't bother you so much...

Thanks, 1989. I'll suggest that next time Toyota takes a look at it.

Aviator, I was thinking a little square of electrical tape might do the trick.

Update - still not solved

We were booked to bring it in last week but cancelled due to an upcoming camping trip. We're camping again this weekend but will bring it in next week. In the meantime we're logging the occurrences with as much detail as possible.

More later.

We've encountered the same problem with our '05 Seqouia. Did you had any luck resolving the issue entirely?

It's been a while since I reported in, but I have an update.

On July 29th the truck was back at the dealer. They contacted Toyota Canada for solutions on isolating the problem. When they inspected the ABS computer there was, apparently, a component that appears to have burnt out... so they replaced the computer. Sure glad I'm not paying for this.

During the short drive back to the office the light stayed off, but that didn't mean much. I'm pleased to say, however, that the light has not come on since (except when I set the parking brake).

Good to hear it may be resolved, and "Hello' from a fellow Ottawanian (I think that's what we're called).

Thanks for the update. If you received a receipt for the service, any chance you can post what part(s) were replaced? We've taken ours in a few times and they were unable to replicate the brake light indicator. I'm heading in again this weekend and would like them to take another look.

The light is also activated when the system senses a pressure differential between the front and rear circuits. This can happen if there is a leak or after you have just bled the system. Excessive air or an internal leak in the master cylinder might also trip it.

Hello,
I have a 2005 sequoia 4x4 and have the same issue, you don't have a part # of the computer that they've replaced by any chance? A lot of times it might end up on the receipt they provided you after the service. It would be nice to have it, so I can call and order one. Thank you for the info.
