Tundra brake problem?

Hey Guys,

I was maybe looking at getting a Tundra to haul stuff around but in my typical researching fashion I found that the trucks seem to suffer from a warping problem on the front rotors. It seems to come from calipers that are too small (ie too small of a brake pad surface) and rotors that are not vented.

Does anyone have any pics of the front brakes on these or know where I can find some?

Also does anyone have any more info on this problem?

Only some have the problem and my guess is because they don't breakin the pads properly. Mine is perfect at 20K (well not quite that mileage yet, but almost there). No warping or anything.

Don't have any pictures either, although one of my teachers who works at Toyota and teaches there, commented on my Tundra's brakes one night that mine had the upgraded caliper. If you really that desperate, I could yank off my tire and take a picture, but please don't make me do it.

there is a tsb out for it, by the way, and if you complain enough to the dealer they'll usually repair it under warranty, depending on mileage.

Ya I did. Everything was replaced and supposedly fix (it's fine now) under warranty.

I won't make you take a pic....geez ......JK!

Seriously I would just like to be able to know how you tell the difference between the uprgaded caliper and the one off the factory line. From what I heard that was really the only serious beef with the truck....everything else got rave reviews. When I go out looking for a new one I just want to be able to tell what has/hasn't been done.

If anyone can point me to a before and after pic that would really help.

Actually answered my own question and found these over at www.tundrasolutions.com

Just in case you were wondering what the difference between the two are:
