2018 4Runner SR5 Brake Change
Hello Everyone!!
My beloved 2018 4Runner now has 42K miles on it. So I believe it's now ready for some well deserved maintenance. I'm gonna start with brakes then progress to the usual fluids at or around 50K. These will be: Tranny, Diffy, Coolant and Brake fluid (if it's dirty).
I'm leaning toward doing the brakes myself and have been watching some vids to get re-acquainted with the process. I don't tow, climb rocks, blast though salt water or mud. I'm just looking for a decent brand, OEM or not. Calipers and rotors are still in good shape so I'll change them next go-round.
So....
Do you guys /gals have a preference as to which pads to go with?
Should I open the bleeder valve when pushing out the pistons? One of the vid's warned that forcing brake fluid backwards could mess up the ABS system. I have done it before (2006 'runner with 200+miles) with a clamp and didn't have any issues.
Anyway, let me know your thoughts and experiences if you care to chime in.
Thanks!
