Fink's SCX10 Honcho
So I've really been getting into the R/C crawler world thanks to Bleeder's thread on here from last year. I have an HPI Blitz for the times I feel the need for speed, which quite honestly isn't as often as I thought.
Started out with the Axial SCX10 Honcho RTR kit (AX90022). Ran it as it was for a while and then decided it needed some 2.2s. The performance gain with these things is just incredible! Almost makes it too easy sometimes!
Here's just a hodgepodge of pics from mods to meets, etc...
Installing the 2.2s
Test fitting the body to see how much I would need to trim...turns out it was a ton...
Then I had to see how much I'd have to trim the bumper. I ended up going the route that Axial did when they put 2.2s on their Honcho.
Ended up trimming out the entire front quarter panel. I could have left a little bit of a lip, but it would have looked a little strange.
It still rubs slightly at the bottom of the doors but only when it's really stuffed.
Then I finally got the bumper chopped and the edges cleaned up. One of these days I'll get a custom-made tube bumper bent up.
Then I finally added the scale stuff I got from Pro-Line in addition to a couple of the extra light buckets that came with the RTR. Will eventually get working LEDs in them.
Also added a 2ft length of jack chain (1/10th scale 20' tow chain).
After all of that I ballooned the electronics and that's really all I've done so far.
Here are some shots from a few meets we've had...
Future mods:
-Holmes Hobbies BR-XL ESC (on my bench awaiting new motor)
-Holmes Hobbies TorqueMaster Pro 540 (on its way)
-Savox Steering Servo
-Aluminum Universals/Knuckles
