New Products: Genuine Toyota Clutch Collar and Retaining Clips

We are happy to add more depth to our clutch product line. We now carry Genuine Toyota Clutch Collar and Clutch Collar Retaining Clips to keep your clutch operating in peak form.

This clutch collar is used on all 1981-1988 Pickups and 1984-1989 4Runners that utilize a two-piece release bearing design. In our experience, this collar can be tough to find used in good form, and many customers ask if we can sell a new Toyota unit. We've listened to your requests, and it's finally in stock and ready for you! A worn out release bearing collar will shorten the life of the release bearing and pressure plate, and cause chatter resulting in increased wear to the transmission nose cone.

In addition to a good working collar, the clips that hold the collar to the fork is equally as important. These clips are easy to misplace and because brittle and break with many miles of heat cycling. These are Genuine Toyota clips and will prevent massive & excessive release bearing wear (as it would be unable to be exxtracted from the clutch cover) and it would likely spin uncontrolably on your transmission nose cone destroying that as well! Such a simple component yet we all need to use them.

Here is the release bearing used in conjunction with the above collar & clips

Compare this release bearing style to the late model Hilux,
which is a one-piece design with an integrated collar and clips:

Therefore, on newer style clutches, the collar is replaced along with the release bearing every time you install a new clutch kit. This is not the case for the early two-piece design, where the collar is reused over and over again for many miles. This is why it is important to inspect your old collar to make sure it is not worn out.

Regards,
BigMike
