Had it put in last Wednesday, it's pretty nice. The more i drive it the better it feels. Although after being installed, my reverse lights do not work. I assume that's the shops fault lol.

Nice!! Be sure to break it in with normal 75-90w gear oil for a few thousand miles before switching to a synthetic oil, if desired.

As for the reverse lights, it sounds like they simply forgot to plug em in! Look on the driver's side of the transmission just to the right of the oil fill plug. This is the reverse light switch, and there should be a two wire plug hanging down from the cab that needs to be plugged into it. Then switch your key to the ON position, throw her in reverse and see if the lights come on!

The second i read this i went to go see, and sure enough you were right! Thank you

Now as for the oil, i put in Synthetic assuming that would be ether better or at least the same as regular oil. Do you recommend me draining the Syn and putting regular in there? I have only put about 300 miles on it so far. Also just to clarify, it's recommended to replace the oil after a couple thousand miles after the first break in, correct?

Appreciate the responses! Every experience i have had with Marlin Crawler is a good one.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh found the culprit It's nice when all ya gotta do to fix something is just plug it in!

As for the gear oil, we recommend to start with regular mineral oil for the following two reasons:
1) High performing synthetic oils prolongs the amount of time required to break-in the synchros
2) We recommend to flush out the gear oil after the first 500 miles

Our advice is flush it with mineral oil after 500 miles, then switch to synthetic (if desired) after a minimum of 3,000 miles. So this is three oil changes total, one to flush, one to help the synchros break in, and the third to go the distance......

.....Honestly however, only 1 flush is necessary so for people who don't run synthetic, they can just keep the 2nd change for at least 60-80k miles (some manuals claim there is no service interval!). Toyota recommends to check the fill level every 15,000 miles; I have a habit of checking my trans and t/case fluid levels every other engine oil change.

What I'd advise, since you've already got expensive oil in there, is to run it for 1,000 miles (so you're not just throwing money away) and then replace it with synthetic and call it good.

Quick question. What synthetic oil do you recommend for these transmissions? 75-90w Synthetic Gear Oil? Thanks!

Yes, that would be a good gear oil. Remember for new components we suggest 1) flushing the gear oil after the first 500 miles, and 2) wait until you've put at least 2,000 or 2,500 miles before using synthetic.

We recommend the flush to remove debris, light metal shavings, whatnot, that were already in the transmission when it was built, and we recommend putting some mileage on the transmission with standard mineral gear oil because you want some parts (such as synchros) to get a chance to break-in first.

BigMike

I am planning on rebuilding my r150f transmission and am interested in one of your kits. Do they come with instructions on how to re assemble the tranny? If not, where i find something?

Hello cleighton, than you for your question. Unfortunately, at the price we are offering these kits we cannot provide any support for building your transmission.

We encourage you to follow the Factory Toyota Service Manual which includes instructions on how to service your transmission. Hopefully there is a manual that matches or is similar to your truck here: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f128...-years-156128/

For a table of transmission applications, please see our Transmission charts here: http://www.marlincrawler.com/tech/tr...ar-ratio-chart

Thanks for your interest in our high quality rebuild kits and good luck with your rebuild!!

Regards,
BigMike
