got the top done , and all mocked up

so with the "mock up" all done , time to start putting it together for keeps

started with welding the "stacks" so I could make them exactly the same size

and then started " stacking dimes "

I admire your fabrication and making it work, not an easy task to do.

so I had to step back a bit .. and reconsider some things .
the CT26's just weren't going to work for me , things like the battery and brake master were in the way ... also had an issue with the throttle body and the hood that I didn't want to deal with .

any way , talked to a buddy of mine , and he swapped a 1Jz into his supra , and had the original CT12a's ...

took them apart , to make sure I could "clock" them how I wanted

this solved all of my problems , + I know I will like them better , as they will spool much quicker .

also got the throttle body figured , and it fits !!

Making everything "fit" is the worst part! Good thing for you is that you have the resources and welding skills to fab up what you need to make. When I built my GTI, I had minimal welding skills and I had to pay a guy to weld up my turbo plumbing for me.

On another note, what are you going to use for a turbo management system?

Unless you're trying to create stupid amounts of power, Piggyback is the way to go. I had a stand alone on my GTI and it was an absolute nightmare. I actually had a plug-n-play ECU so there was no unnecessary rewiring of factory gauges and such which made installation a snap; however, the tuning required a NASA rocket scientist to get it dialed in! My friend was really good at re-mapping and electronic tuning and even he was struggling with it. ANNNND to make it even more difficult to tune, I plumbed the turbos parallel with one driven by and supplying cylinders 1, 2 and 3 and the other driven by and supplying cylinders 4, 5 and 6. Supposedly when properly tuned, the VR6 will run like a bat out of hell with this setup (I wouldn't know because I totaled it before I could get it there). This ended up being a really easy fab job since the VR6 is a "V...In-line" 6 cylinder with a single head feeding both banks. The way I plumbed it ended up being relatively compact - I know a true V-6 is a different animal, but you may want to look into it for space savings and ease of fabrication.

I tried to dig up some pictures of my GTI, but they are on my old laptop so I'll have to dig that up and snag the photos. The only thing I had was the basic layout of the turbos and plumbing that I had in my email account from when I sent it to my welder to see if it was do-able (see below)

Nonetheless, I know you'll figure out something cool, but I figured packing your brain with ideas doesn't hurt!

Thanks Dave .. Yep , thats pretty much the same as the 1Jz is set up

right now , I'm trying to figure out the inter coolers , and I think maybe porche ones might work ... what were your intercoolers ..
also working on the AFM .. where it goes and how it will work with my piggy back

I used CX racing intercoolers. I took the two intercoolers and had them welded together in the middle since I couldn't find a one-piece intercooler that met my needs. They were still independent of each other, but having them welded together made the mounting a little easier in my case. I'm pretty sure CX Racing is still in business. You should check them out - they always had a huge variety in their intercooler selection.

little work over the weekend . Plenum is basically done , just need to add some "accessory" mount brackets , and the vacuum ports and it's ready for some powder .

also working on the waste gates .. made some brackets because I "clocked" the turbos .. still have to "finish" the brakets , but you get the idea ...
