Can anyone recommend a mechanic to do an engine swap in the Hampton Roads area?
Im brand new to yotatech and a fairly new Toyota owner and Virginia resident. I have an 89 4runner with a 3vze and R150F trans. Im looking to drop in a 5vzfe and unfortunately due to my job have neither the time nor the place to do the swap myself. Does anyone know of a reliable mechanic for the job? Preferably in the Hampton Roads area but will travel! Also should I carry the R150F over to the new engine or just go with something else? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thats good to hear, Richmond is not too far from me. There is a ton of info on here about the 3.0 to 3.4 swap but my major question is where should I get the engine from? Seems like remanufactured is the way to go but Im open to any suggestions or ideas. Could you send me some contact info on the shop?

yep. guy by the name of Red, he lives in Norfolk and his shop in his Windsor out on 460. Does 100% toyota stuff, knows yotas very well, builds anything and everything for these trucks. Does good work and affordably priced. Has an all toyota truck junkyard next to his shop. He would be the best by far in the Hampton Roads area for this work as well as price wise, would hook u up with a warrantee as well.

Yeah I'm gonna go check him out sometime this week. I just wanna make sure whoever does it is familiar with this particular swap. Thanks a lot for the help!
