That's.....something I'd never call me!
Thank goodness for all the great info others have left. I know I keep saying that but it's been amazingly helpful. I don't believe I could have accomplished so much on my own. At least, not without a bunch of headaches!
We were at Grant's Farm today, drinking our complimentary beers while tornado sirens are going off. We weren't complaining though, considering our day beginning with a trail maintenance day at Indian Camp Creek that turned into a thunderstorming soak-fest. We got stuff done on the trail but boy, did we ever get wet!
At least in the afternoon we were able to stand out of the downpours and finish our beers in a mostly dry state.

Okay everybody....
Which rear bumper for the 96? Has to have a tire carrier, NO jerry cans on the back, a 2" receiver for towing and work with a 1" body lift.
I've seen Savage, CBI's hybrid, Shrockworks and I'm having a hard time deciding. Savage has a nice price and looks beefy, CBI more features, I like the Shrockworks sliders but the bumper looks pretty heavy....

Ok. Maybe co-Queen with Kitty's 4Runner will have to do then. She does some good wiring too.
Clear and windy now, but went out for a 12 mile walk at 6am today before wind came up. Rain? What's that? We won't see and significant rains here until October. Oh, the joy of living on the desert side of Oregon.

Hey, if it holds you're golden in my eyes....if it doesn't it'll just give me a good excuse to lug both of those heavy batteries out of there.
Midway through the inner fender repair. Hubby got in there with all the grindy/heaty stuff and got the important part done. Certainly a lot more solid now.
My contribution is a mouse pad as an isolator plus cleaning up my wiring and switching out the old 6 circuit fuse block with a Blue Sea covered fuse block with 12 spots on my homemade block and relay holder. Pics later.
And I still can't decide- Savage, CBI or ? rear bumper w/tire carrier. I keep swaying back and forth between the two. There's others I would consider but for the 1" body lift. Any imput appreciated, maybe y'all know of something else or know something about the above that I haven't found out yet.

the only thing I don't like is the license plate and associated light/brake light/wiring attach via a bracket through the center of the spare tire (secured only by a wing nut which is not easy to tighten in that space), so you would have to remove all that to access and remove the spare tire...
just something to consider, and it wouldn't be that challenging to relocate the rear license plate to rear bumper itself...
maybe I should finally take and post some photos of my 4Runner for you...

Savage does not have the options CBI has but is lots cheaper and a hi-lift can be used on it. CBI has hi-lift carrier...don't know about lifting w/said hi-lift. CBI's bumper has had some trouble with carrier wiggling, don't know if Savage has but expect all carriers are going to have some wiggling with a 33 on it. There are a couple of places on the CBI for shackles but none for the Savage. Both have 2" receivers (I tow mostly poop) so a hanger can be stuck in that (the receiver, not the poop). I can put the hi-lift holder on the roof basket so do not necessarily need a holder on the bumper. I like the more finished look of the CBI hybrid but think the Savage would be okay if the sides were filled in much like Outdoor Logic and Addicted did on theirs. I would like to keep the weight down too. Make this thing do everything I want and also be featherweight!
Oh yeah, and none have a bottle opener....for after! After!

FYI, I bought my SW rear bumper via one of their group buys, during which I have seen other customers order with the body lift option...
and you can always add a bottle opener!

Good to know about the body lift option possibility on the Shrockworks, thanks hrt4me.
Also forgot to mention (IIRC) CBI builds the bumper to fit the body lift, Savage builds the bracket taller. So, better clearance on the Savage, possibly better towing capacity on the CBI.

Finally finished up reinforcing the dual battery area/ cleaning up the wiring a little/ adding the Blue Sea fuse block.
The crack that was at the left rear corner of the battery box on the inner fender. It was welded and a brace added.
My fuse block and relay holder:
How the fuse block is mounted to the holder:
All the pretty colors...
and the bracket on top from the battery box to the front support or whatever that thing is called. The husbandio fabbed this one up for me and it turned out nice.
Currently I am leaning towards Savage....

Only 'cause he's pretending he can't get the crank in to let the spare down since he put in a 1" body lift. Shenanigans- I've got that same 1" and I can get my spare down.
Okay, if I could crank it up in there, thus the bumper w/tire carrier.
Still, calling shens even if I did see the situation for my ownself.
