Wow. You just brought up so many memories I had hoped to forget. My grandparents live up by Provo Utah and driving up there my dad would always eat the worst foods then fall asleep in the car. My mom wouldn't let us roll down the windows because it would wake him up and for some reason that was more important than the rest of us breathing. You have my sympathies. Must be something about driving through southern Utah.

I figure any camping day that doesn't require a trip to the hospital is a good camping day.

Wow, exciting! I used to love the Monsoons in PHX.... HUGE drops of rain coming down in such torrents.... intersections filing up 3ft in hours as the drainage system couldn't handle everything. It rained so hard and with such a volume, that everyone on the 17 and 10 freeway/Hwy would have to pull off into the shoulders on both sides. You could not see 5 inches in front of your hood.
When they said monsoons were warm water rains , holy crapoli, they were not kidding. The water coming down was so warm, it was like a warm shower!
My goodness, another burrito story? Haha. I have 1 that's even worse, but don't worry, you will be spared, as will an ex that will remain unnamed... He he
Okay Hab, I'm off, back to the plan trying to get to harvesting the avocados today. Should get a couple hundred. Of the 87 for trees here are also coming in the bloom, including Santa Rosa plums, sugar plums , apricots , white peaches, multiple pairs including Bartlett's, Asians, Suriname cherries, owari Satsuma mandarins tangerines, the super sweet giant Washington oranges that I have, Rio grapefruits, Queen Anne cherries , and many more. I've been planning to get out and start doing some major work that I've been putting off, caregiving and so forth,... And I thought of you because of your love of having your own produce!
Have fun this spring and summer, and get lots of pictures! Maybe even a couple family pictures for once? Hahaha... Just kidding, I know how it is. You guys are just such a cool group , and I want to thank you for sharing your adventures, etcetera. 2 thumbs up on that 1

Haha Hab... I remember that Bryce Canyon Burrito story...
ever consider adding some of these in-channel visors?
http://www.carid.com/1996-toyota-4runner-deflectors/
I've been looking for some myself... want to be able to open the window a bit in the rain for "ventilation"... sometimes I can't stand myself lol...
Mark... I hate you and your constant teasing with fresh produce...

Very jealous Chef, 'specially when I imagine what you're going to turn all that produce into...
Avi- I used to have a set of in-channel vent visors on my Bronco II, they were kind of nice sometimes and a little in the way sometimes- and those were the thinner version. The ones that stick on I did not like, it seems we had a set that came with the Exploder that the hubby ripped off straight away. They were bigger and clunkier, but he detested the ones on the 'co too.

Well it was an idea anyway... IK what you mean about them being in the way sometimes...
I worry about them falling out if driving with the windows down.. and I don't like the stick on kind either... too clunky looking and they might ruin the finish if/when they break/peal off...

Yesterday we did some trail rerouting and got a bike ride in with the kid.
Today:
Supposed to get somewhere between 5-9" today and another 1-3" tonight.
Hope you are all well, warm and good.
96 4Runner 248,217 miles
So, the 99 began throwing a code that boiled down to the TPS so we swapped it with the 96's to see what would happen. No more code since on the 99. Happy day, but...
The first thing I noticed with the 96 is a higher idle than with it's original TPS. Didn't think much of it and was getting about the same mileage- around 15mpg. No codes.
Replaced the cat. Now here I was expecting better mileage, and it did get a tiny bit better but not what I was hoping for. The ping is completely gone and I seem to have more power under load i.e. not downshifting just to get up hills on the highway and that sort of thing. Where's my durned mpgs???
Started looking at that higher idle. Went ahead and replaced the TPS with a new one. Waited until I used around 5 gallons and filled up. Average for the last 4 of these abbreviated fills is 19 mpg. Now for the long wait of a whole tank of daily driving. That's every one to two weeks for me before I can find out if this mileage will hold true.
EVERYBODY CROSS FINGERS!! I keep track on fueleconomy.gov.
The 96 has never thrown a code for anything unless I caused it to happen, like when I unplugged the knock sensors to see if it changed the way the truck ran (boy, did it) while hunting down ping. No codes to indicate problems with the tps, o2 or cat.

The roof basket's full on the 96....still snowing. This was a cold spring break and I am longing for the warmth and green of spring. Just thinking about the snow's drought fixing abilities! We aren't in one any more but many west of us are.
Chef, I'm gonna be very happy if that 19 sticks!

I hear ya'girl! And don't get me wrong, I love the snow, .... I'm just so spoiled by not having to prepare for, nor handle much duty thereof, the happening of Snow/sleet/ice/blizzards. I lived in far North Eastern Spokane, WASHINGTON, and was in the late 80s in 2 of the worst winters on record... TONS Of snow and 13" thick of ice over paths to dig trails in for 100+ feet to the Lakeside. But come spring? HOLY BEAUTIFUL TERRAIN!

Wish that were true here.......wait! Does me not driving all day mean it is true???
At 5pm we had 10"- and it's still going. 4Runner's roof basket is overflowing. Figures the biggest winter storm of the year would be in Spring. School's out tomorrow!
We sneaked over and shoveled the neighbor's drive while he attempted to get his snow blower started. He retaliated by snow blowing our driveway though it's twice as long as his and we kept protesting Stop! Stop! 4xFun! 4xFun!
Afterwards we made a snowman with a big butt.

13" of snow total, gone a couple of days later.
I had the day off today so cleaned up the gas tank skid on the 96...
Not quite as rusty as I thought, good ol' Utah/ Colorado/ Missouri dirt...
Did some sanding, some painting and stuck it back on.
Somehow I had zero rusty bolt issues. 2 bolts in the front (the outside ones, leave the front center bolt alone), one on the left side and 2 in the rear. Thing weighs about half a pound.....ok, really it is unexpectedly light.
I can see why people get a Lil' Skip's.

Nice skid resto, glad no bolt seizure issues....
Gonna be cleaning mine up b4 reassembly when I move the tank over to clear the OMEmu leaf strap bolt. But mine is covered in undercoating, no ryst, so I will likely just throw it in my machinists hot tank.
How u doin, Sassy? Hehe
