4-wheel steering is a pretty high-end feature on cars these days.
The funny(?) thing about this is how absolutely certain we were it was coming from the front suspension when listening from inside the car. *clunk*, clearly coming from the driver side footwell. No doubt about it.
But get out of the car while it's driven around in circles an :^O it's coming from the rear. Not only that, but you can see the axle wiggling back and forth what looks to be almost an inch (combined wiggle on both ends of the lower control arm, plus the small amount of bushing deflection).
Now I'm pretty sure the occasional clunk I get from my '99 (which absolutely sounds like it's coming from the passenger front suspension from inside) is probably coming from the rear. I've done the same thing, looked over the front suspension multiple times and never seen anything amiss. And yet *clunk*.

Transmission even minus bell housing and fluid is HEAVY. It's in the box, snug as a tranny in a, um, box.
I was able to put the trans in the box, but the box is too awkward to throw in the car so will have to wait for my SuperHubby to show up.
I'm only 30# more than it is, gonna need some helps.
Anyway, the old R150f is going back to Marlin in the next day or two.
space-junk...the like button disappeared, otherwise I'd smack that thing

hey hab, i was just thinking... if you get the mount fixed, you should replace the worn out bushings with some machined delrin bushings. thats what Dirt Designs put in the LT kit that i have. and most aftermarket companies swear by delrin simply because it doesnt require grease and doesnt break down likie rubber or poly. and do what Gevo did on the rear of his second gen with the heims and beefy arms. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...5/index21.html

You are all so very awesome!
One thought was to have the holes built back up and drilled to the proper size like Kitty says, but if I had that done (I need a Kitty here!), then added the washers you all mention to shore things up a bit that might just be crazy enough to work.

Last January, we'd booked a trip to the States for this November, and Montana was on our Itinerary, but the damn "Covid" has stuffed all that.
I'd be thrilled to give you a hand, yes please, a couple of hours would kick the whole job in the butt.
Can I have a rain check ?

I've never been to Montana, hear it's beautiful. Hope you get a chance to see it at some point.

LoL, Stoopid Aussie, I saw "mo" in your signature and assumed Montana... not Missouri.... well I'd be happy to make a detour, but it might be a while...

We're just a 4 day round-trip diversion not including hanging out...if you really like to drive for long hours. Missouri's got caves, streams, and beautiful tall oak trees. We also have ticks, mosquitos, and rust!

I'm thankful for and lucky to have the people who follow and help me out with great thoughts, ideas, and suggestions. It's not a build thread any more, it's a help me keep this dang thing afloat thread.

I haven't come to a conclusion yet, but planning on keeping it IFS so will have to have it repaired sooner than later. I really like the washer plan that I can't do my ownself. Also looking at emkeith's lower link mount/skid as a reinforcement for the repaired holes. It looks solid, but I'd have to modify the right one to accommodate the slider mount and am a bit worried that it covers the original, here in the salt belt not being able to reach for thorough cleaning and inspection might be trouble?
Yesterday I spent some time cleaning up, greasing, clearing the drains, and waxing the sunroof contact areas. It was starting to get catchy when I wanted to lift it.
I also finally got around to using sound deadening to cover the open holes that I cut into the rear door lower pockets to accommodate the larger speakers.
And birds are still jerks.

Spent some time fixing small issues.
Loosened the p/s belt some, seemed too tight.
Realized the truck didn't recognize the hatch being open- and the door open light didn't work either. Some years back I'd pulled the hatch latch apart to repair the switch so access was super easy this go-round. I found corrosion on the door switch. Cleaned it and buttoned it back up. Problem solved.
I pulled it the rest of the way apart to clean and regrease since I had it off.
My front diff lock light in the cluster wasn't working. Bulb was missing. When did I pull the bulb? I've had the cluster out several times, maybe I was sleep-repairing during one of them.
hahahhahahhahahahhaha
Had a rattle with one of my shifters, one of the radesigns rod nuts had backed off on one side, allowing it to loosen some. Tightened it back up. I'm out of loc-tite so I'll have to fix it for reals later.

Oh! Almost forgot. Went by a couple of junkyards today (3 3rd gen 4Runners, boo auto trans/no locker/pretty much stripped) for funs and drove up on the scale while we were there.
Without people and tools the fat old thing weighs about 4900#.
So it's got about 1000# of extra junk stuck to it?
Maybe I need to call this my unbuild thread and start chucking stuff overboard!
Oink.
