It's a CBI Offroad bumper. It was a total of $1,100, though thats with powder coating, shipping, and 4 shackles.

The person who hit me paid for it, but it's totally a badass bumper and my personal favorite choice in 3rd gen rears.

I ordered some Automotive touch up paint and clear for a bumper that T4R's driffter33 gave me. I am gonna sand it down and repaint it, then swap the chrome out.

Suweeeeeet rig! I'm dying to find me a 99 or so that's worth buying.... People are just HIGH if they think they'll get what they want for stocky's, especially some of these that are just TRASHED! haha. I LOVE that rear bumper! CB and PA mod was very cool as well.

Buddy of mine named Jay gave me his old bumper, but it had the holes on the sides for flares and the paint was history. I decided not to use it.

While surfing T4R.ORG, I learned that you could buy the factory grilles already painted. I shat a brick and bought a green one.

This left me with a chrome bumper left, no more chrome but that. Finally, I decided it was time to learn how to do some body work. Brother helped me, filled in the fender holes with a welder. I bought some Bondo and smoothed it out (not well.. oh well, first try). Primered and painted with good ol' Imperial Jade.

 

Wow children that bumper looks amazing! Not too bad at all for your first time working with bondo, you just have to work fast because it has a pretty short working time.

Will go great with the OME 890's and Rear Nitrochargers. I am considering swapping to 891's if anyone wants to trade (maybe the stiff ride isn't to your liking, 891 owners?). Bumpers are heavy.

They say not to couple these because the ride is stiff. I like that

Contrary to popular belief, my 4Runner has never been buffed other than after the paint was done. It's never even heard of wax.

I decided to finally treat it. We have all of the detailing tools at my dealership's body shop. It had some gnarly scratches all over the sides from branches, the hood has some scrapes, and the overall condition of the original paint was very sub-par. The pictures don't really show it, but it looked really bad up close. It was dirty from a little wheeling trip last Friday, so I washed it, clayed it, buffed it 3 times, and all of the scratches are gone. I am in love with the way this thing looks now.

I also took out all of the seats, then cleaned and shampooed every inch of the interior, even the seat belts (THEY ACTUALLY RETRACT NOW!).

On another note, my steering rack has gained too much play. The actual inner bushings have gone bad and it is now leaking a storm of ATF. I went to Ferman's Minitruck in Santa Ana and pulled a steering rack out of a wrecked IJM 99 3RZ 2WD (familiar... eh?) and I will swap that in once I get my new steering rack mount bushings from Wheelers Offroad. Alignment afterwards.

I also got a new set of bumper lenses for the signals from FoneRunner. One of mine cracked from a rock.

Next up is either a new LSPV or a manual proportioning valve, and then fixing my seat mount on the drivers side which has been broken for some time now.

My Energy Suspension Steering rack bushings are here and I will undertake install on Monday.



And some loom cuz I was bored and it was free. (Zip ties on the battery mount aren't holding the battery, they're just there for insurance.)









More on the underside covering the fog light wires. Cool stuff if used for actual wires and in moderation, can't stand people who loom the whole engine bay.


Still searching for a wrecked 2.7 4x4 4Runner for parts...

 

Ordered 4 1.25" Spidertrax Wheel Spacers. Will be here on Tuesday.

Scored 4 285/70/17 BF Goodrich Mud Terrain KM2's on craigslist. They will go on as soon as I get my spacers. ETA Wednesday.

Also ditched my flat black emblems for some genuine Black Pearl emblems I found at the junkyard. Painted the front to match with Testors #1813 Black Pearl. I just need the black pearl antenna nut and I'm done.

I took the 4R to the trail and immediately found that my driveshaft was hitting the gas tank skid. A few minutes with my angle grinder and a hammer fixed that quickly. I cut about a 3x2 inch piece of metal off of the skid. Works great now, no rubbing. I also went over an obstacle I could never clear before. It's a large dirt barrier that is about as tall as the truck itself. I didn't get a photo, but I will next time. I scraped the CBI on the ground, it's so steep.





Next up are a set of ARP Intake manifold studs. ARP 400-8013 = ARP 400-8013 - ARP Stainless Steel Accessory Studs - Overview - SummitRacing.com

They're pretty pricey, but from what I've read, totally worth the cost.

It seems the 5th injector that is currently supplied with the LCE Superchargers is actually fitted into the elbow of the supercharger, as shown here, sticking out on the top left:



I will either have to purchase a new elbow or modify mine to accept a new fifth injector. Modification seems the most economical route.

LCE also uses a Split Second controller. I have been to Split Second's shop here in Costa Mesa. My brother had his 92 22RE tuned there for a MAF conversion. I will go to them when the time comes.

Also, here is what the seller is including with the sale, 2.4/2.5/2.6 pulleys, dynamic tensioner for 2RZ, and UniChip are not pictured. It appears all brackets and power steering pulley bracket, etc, are present. So far, so good! I'll just be picking up the ARP Studs and LCE Teflon gaskets before install. The teflon gaskets are basically isolators that keep heat away from the intake air. By keeping the heat out of the intake manifold, the incoming air is cooler, therefore making more power. I also need a TRD Boost Gauge and pod.

Looks like I am doing well with my eBay sales and craigslist sales that I can get the unit early.

The Intake Plenum on the supercharger has been gasket matched already, so I thought a 4mm increase in TB bore would be helpful. I might buy one.

 

Hey, How many inches of lift did you achieved with the new Bilstein 5100’s? I have just about the same setup on mine, and I do have some tire rubbing in the front. Areyou having any issues with front tire rubbing with the new 33” tires? Thanks!!!

P.S Is thst a brand new TRD SC?

 

My bilstein 5100's are at their lowest setting, it's the OME 883 3" front lift coil that gave my lift. The rears are OME 890. Ground to fender with the new springs/tires was about a 5 inch gain over stock w/ 265/70/16 (tires of course contribute, I never did the hub to fender like I should have).

I haven't rubbed much except for a little bit on the front left tire off road, but that's only if you're leaning on it (rear wheel in the air)

The TRD S/C has 50k on it.

 

So, unlike your new suspension, in the front I have Toytec 3" spacers with factory coils. Do you think that is I were to install coilovers like your, Do you think I will acheive more lift in the front? Look at my trucks pictures and tell me what do you think:

Chances are, over time, your springs have sagged. On top of that, a spacer will compress them more when installed. To top all of that off, the spacer now has to compensate for the lost spring height, so you end up with less lift than 3". It appears in the photos that you have in your build up thread that the front is a bit lower. I don't know how much you'll gain from going to the 883's. It would surely even out the front to the rear. The 883/890(or 891) combo and 33"s should leave you with about 39" ground to fender, add 1" for your body lift.

 

Yes, I,ve mentioned on mu buildup thread, the fact that I feel that my truck is a little too low on the front. But most people reply by saying that it should look like that or that I should leave it the way it is. Anyway, i guess when is time to replace the struts I will go with coilovers. Anyway, Thanks for replying back!!!

 

Coilovers are pricey but cool. I would have them if I had the $$. The OME 883 springs on the Bilstein 5100 shock is great for me, though.

In other news, the UPS man dropped off a hefty package full of happiness and awesome today. Accessories included, not shown.





Picked up a URD interstitial ECU harness for adding a piggyback ECU. I can retain my stock harness without modification. $80, normally $160.

Waiting for funds to order ARP Intake Manifold Studs and a Teflon Gasket set. Next paycheck. Then, install.

Sorry guys, lately, about the lame updates. Still working overtime to save up enough to rebuild the supercharger. It shouldn't be much longer than a month before it's rebuilt and in the truck.

To continue my lame-athon, here's some tiny updates.

Replaced my passenger's side auto switch. The original somehow broke and became really super sensitive. Swapped in a "new" one from an 01 Sport Edition. Switch only, same bezel.



One of my roof rack end caps flew off while on the freeway to buy my steering rack replacement. Finally got a new end cap, from the same donor 01 Sport.



My 4Runner never came with a rear spoiler, running boards, roof rack, tow hitch, or any of that fancy stuff. I bought a used rear spoiler from a junkyard back in 2009. The paint on it wasn't excellent, so I repainted it twice. Since my last paint job, it started fading pretty bad. It was also pretty scratched up (beyond paint work). I decided to swap it out, again from the 01 Sport.



My rear windshield wiper assembly was bent since I got mine, too. I replaced the blade back in 2009, which is when I realized the whole thing was bent. Bending it back didn't help, so I swapped my old wiper for a new one from the same 01 Sport. I went to the Toyota dealer and paid for another insert, though this time, the rear wiper sweeps the whole windshield (which is all I care about)



The last, I just snagged a bunch of clips for random stuff like door panels, etc. They don't match the same color, but it's the function I really care about. They prevent a lot of rattling from the door panels. It's sickening when they're not there.




Other randoms include teflon tape for the boost gauge, which is still making noise of leaking at about 7Hg and 3Hg (IDK WTF WHY, it's annoying!)

Picked up this possible intercooler for future use, from a Mercedes-Benz. Fits beautifully behind the fat lip.
