Yukon Gear 5.29's Value Gear?

Hello all,

I'm regearing my 96 runna and asked my local 4wd shop to specifically order up a set of Yukon 5.29 gears and have them cryo'd.

Well, the rear set came in for a 4 cylinder which is wrong but useable with a thicker spacer shim. But the front was wrong.

I was then told the front gear set was $35.00 more which is B.S. I checked and the Value Gear set I got is only 192.61 from Randys Ring and Pinion. yet I paid 199 originally but now all of a sudden its 35 more? WTF!!! The premium Yukon gear set is 213.00 on their website. So why did I get a set of lesser quality Value Gears instead of premium?! The value gears are made by Yukon but spend less time in the machining process and treat.

Well, it is what it is. But is their a major difference in the two brands? Yukon premium vs. value gear (non premium). I had the gear sets cryogenically treated. Does that make it a non-issue or will my rear gears still be noisy? I'm tired of getting the shaft.

dude send them back and get the right stuff... someone screwed up...

try east coast gear supply and say your from ttora and you'll get a good discount on some precisions..

make sure you get the v6 gears, dont half ass it with spacers.

Talked to the shop and cleared everything up. The gears that come in a Value Gear box are the same as the gears in a Yukon labled box. The shop owner also gave me a price break after talking with him in person. Very cool dude. No worries.

Only difference in a 4cyl rear and v6 rear gear set up is the pinion. and the diffrerence in strength is debateable. since my gears are cryo'd i feel no reason to sweat it. especially since i do have a 2.7L. If I had a v6 i would get the v6 R&P.

and time is an issue so I dont have the time to return the rear gears and get the v6's in and cryo'd.
