Is your Tacoma rusting yet?

My '93 isn't too bad yet, but it's getting there. Those of you with older Tacomas, how is it holding up? I actually work in autobody, and I don't even want to deal with rust, so I'm looking at newer trucks where I can stop it before it starts.

I know what you mean

My truck isnt a Tacoma, just a 1988 truck and the bed rusted completely out. I actually pick my new full fiberglass bed up this Saturday from B&G Fiberglass the frame and cab are like new though, no rust at all, my frame still has white lettering from the factory on it but the bed sides rotted out bad, well really over the last few years, the seam started and the spot welds above the rear tires started to bubble and that was it, I tried to keep rust converter and touch up paint along with undercoating on it but once it got in that un pained seam thats it for the bed!

Let me clarify. I have a 1993 4x4 pickup. I know it's not a Tacoma. I'm trying to discover whether the Tacoma is as rust prone as the older pickups like mine. They seem to get better with every generation, so I'm wondering how good or bad the Tacoma is compared to the 1990-1995 trucks.

I want my next truck to be rust free so that I can take preventative measures now, and not have to cope with rust issues down the line.

Mine is spotless but it is fairly new. I always wash under my truck. I think the main culprit is mud left on the under side of the truck. The mud/dirt will get wet over and over and stay wet. Keep the truck clean and you should have no problems with the newer models.

Tacomas came out late 95, just to clarify. I also have a 93, and the only rust to be found on it is where I took the bedliner out. Very minimal even there. We also have an 89 Runner, with no rust at all.

1997 Tacoma. Pretty bad rust below driver side rear tail-light.
Light rust passenger side rockerpanel below door, both bed-rails beside the tailgate are beginning to show minor rust.....other places but I can't think of them at the moment. I POR 15'd my frame to slow the frame's oxidation a bit....
