It seems allot of 2nd. gen Runners are riding on Downey HD's for their rear coils, but OME is close. I've seen plenty of discusion about raising the rear end with one of the two (or PP, and so on) , but not much on which is better and so on. I realize it is a matter of opinon, but what is your opinon? Downey HD or OME or PP? Just doing a bit of a survey! Thanks!

 

I have PP's, but am putting on FJ80 OEM coils soon.

Thanks for the vote, I did search. This isn't a "what should I get" post. i've decided on OME after allot of searching. It's a "what did you get", or "what would you like to get" question as far as rear coils. I wanted to do a poll, but can't. Man people are touchy on the 'do a search or I will hunt you down and kill you!!' thing on this board...geeeez . I'm going w/ OME's soon ($$).

I just put downeys 1.5" HD on yesterday, didn't need to crank the Tbars, it sets "evenly" now w/14" from top of wheel to wheel well, all 4 wheels. Looks so much better, and rides better than before.

I have had the Downey's on for about 1 year now I think. Hopefully I will be swapping them out for my set of low-side FJ coils though!

 

Hey 91. I am a huge Lions fan (insert jokes here). Is it true Joey Harrington is a football god there in OR?

 

2 years with the Downeys and no problems. Ride is great and it doesn't sag with the back full of stuff.

 

I've got a set of Downey HDs on the way that should be here next week, if that counts.

 

hehehe neither - air shocks by carquest AND an air ride system from PP.

My rear end NEVER sags even under a HEAVY tounged trailer and a cargo area filled with 450lbs of audio gear!

 

Score another for OME's. They lifted the rear 1 inch over the front at first but have since settled at 3/4 inch. I love them.

 

Downeys for the last 6 or so years with no probs. Have towed a fully loaded 2 axle Uhaul trailer over the Grapevine several times with no handling problems.

 

I have the Downey HD's and love them BUT after I installed SDORI 1.5" balljoint spacers the front end is now HIGHER than the rear so I'm changing over to Cruiser coils ASAP.

So, Downey isn't all he needs to know.

 

You could probably buy the spacer from Downey to even things back out.

The HDs come with a couple brackets and an extended brake line too. I've ran mine for almost 2 years without one problem. I've towed a 16ft double axle trailer overflowing with cut trees and brush and there wasn't any sag.

If you get the Downey's you won't be disappointed.

My first set of coils were progressive springs & it rode very stiff. I switched to Downeys and it rides much better & doesn't sag empty or loaded.
