YOUR dream road trip
#63
I’d be in for the Alaska trip. My ultimate road trip would be to fly to Australia. Then pick up a Land Cruiser 78 and go from one tip of Australia to another tip and then to another for at least a year.

Up through Montana (Billings, Big Timber, and through Missoula), then up to Yukon Terr., NW Terr., and Nunavut. (edit: okay maybe not nunavut - no roads! )
Cool part is that its totally doable too

If it's Spring of '06, I would go if I could meet on the left coast via an auto-train, but they don't offer service out that way.
I would kill myself on that long drive out there. 5 hours is about all I can take in one sitting on one tank of gas and a restroom stop at that point.
That was the pre S/C days when I had some nice MPG and averaged 22 MPG to Canada and back racing on the NY state thruway at 90-100 (passed* maybe 20-30 cars the most at the time I traveled with a 4 way "race") for at least 60 miles.
(Could have made it if I didn't make a wrong turn for a few miles, or if I actually pressed my luck to see if I can run it up on fumes and not hit traffic)
EDIT: What are some ideas the east coast members have if they are interested? Will there be an invite to other yota boards IF it does take place?

I am in the planning stages right now for starting my dream "roadtrips"
My son will be 3.5 years old at this time next year and I am going to take him from Iowa to Denver to Southern Utah and then back up through Utah to Wyoming to Nebraska and back home.
We will do a complete family vacation with wife and her family in Southern Utah but it will be just me and my boy on the way out and the way back (wife will ride witht he inlaws hahaha).
It will be done in my 1st Gen 4Runner as well, I'm planning on 2 days out and then 2 days back.
If it goes well (with a 3 year old not EVERYTHING will go well) I plan on doing this every year with him.
Your dream road trips change when you get old and have kids.
