yakima copperhead

yakima copperhead
so i found a pair of yakima copperhead bike racks today which is amazing considering i'm starting to build my base roof rack. So i scored (which i think) an awesome deal on 2 of these. $170 CDN for 2 unused racks with locks. What do you think??
oh, and what is the deal with everyone saying that THule racks are cheaper?? i priced out what i need for thule and yakima on rackattack.com and the thule came out like $50 more expensive for the same setup as the yakima.
So finally, is there any advice or any places i should be shopping for a base rack system?? I will be attaching the system to my OEM tracks that i'm putting on tomorrow. Or even better, is there a piece from yakima that i can purchase that will attach my copperhead bike racks to the stock luggage rack? If there is, please let me know.

this might be pretty obvious but check out yakima.com... also any outdoors/adventure store like a bike shop should carry something or be able to direct your attention the right way... also check out ebay.
i got 5 raptors, cross bars, 4 towers, 4 clips, locks, the ratchet straps and all the hardware for $250 shipped.

rackattack i find is A LOT more expensive then all other online stores. For a yakima system that consists of:
1)control towers
2)landing pads
3)cross bars
4)SKS locks
5)fairing
it comes to $485 dollars....i cannot spend that much on a rack. It is just plain stupid. www.rei.com has the same thing for about half the price. Why?? i like rackattack.com ONLY because it is about 5 hours from my house so shipping would be quick and cheaper.

I think ebay has some pretty good prices if you can find one thats not in the middle of a bid war. If you have any local sales bulletins, those work well too. I got crossbars, towers, locks, 1 bike rack (raptor I think), front faring, and 1 ski rack for $150 out of the local 'Bulletin Board.'
The 4 towers I have are the model before the newest ones and they mount in the stock tracks. I already have a rack of my own, but just purchased this one for the parts for my girlfriends car. She doesnt have a stock roof rack so I'm looking to sell these. They were a little sun faded so I sanded them down and repainted them and they look better than new now. I may be taking the locks out of them for the girlfriend, but I'd definately be interested in selling them if you need. I have pics from where I was planning to post them on ebay. They are actually from a ford roof rack, but I was curious so I took them out to see if they would mount in mine, and sure enough they lock in just as strong as the newer ones I have. Let me know if you're interested.
